Ombre effect – so effective yet so simple – Thank you for sharing it

I love the way that you mixed the colors. I’ve been doing cards for about two years and am just now beginning to use StampinUp paper and the Ink Spots. I do love the way the inks and paper match, but I can’t afford to purchase much at one time. My question is, what would be the best way for me to start my color palette? My daughter was a Consultant for a different stamping company, so I have all of her inks, but they are going to need to be replaced eventually. I don’t know how to get started. I understand that there are different levels of color and I don’t know where I should start light, medium or dark in the same shades of color. Sorry if this is confusing.
Hi Janice: I think the best place to start is with neutrals – Whisper White, Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake, Basic Black. Then add color. Either choose the most current In Colors (2017-2019) for fashion friendly “punch” that will be available now and in the 2018 Annual Catalog (starts June 1, 2018) or find personal favorites that will be versatile (Old Olive, Real Red, Pool Party – to name a few very popular colors). you can try Fine Tip Glue Pen or sometimes I just use our multipurpose glue with a toothpick. the key is just adding a little at a time 🙂 This video demonstrates using the Fine Tip Glue Pen: https://youtu.be/X3i_ntE7mJw

Just wondering, and I’ll have to experiment, but I imagine that if I wasn’t careful that I would end up ripping my word. Can you sponge an area on the cardstock first and then lay your die on that and cut it out? Hmm, might not get the sponging exactly where you want, though. Lovely technique and the cards are beautiful! I feel a CASE coming on!
Brilliant suggestion Emily . . . ombre card stock first and then cut. It’s a little fragile to do the sentiments, especially the longer ones – but fine if you are gentle. Having the die cut allows a bit more placement of the color. Both work!

Many thanks for showing the ‘ombre’ technique with sponge daubers. I was looking for a technique to show and have my stamp camp group do and this came in my email today. Love it and may I show it to them? Having a husband starting prostate cancer treatments on 29th and stamp camp on 28th Mayo clinic apts next week, I need to ‘CASE’ some items. Way too much stress in my past 6 months.
