Meet Stampin’ Up! Swirly Scribbles Dies

Stampin Up Swirly Scribbles Birthday Card & Envelope - Mary Fish StampinUp

The new Stampin’ Up! Swirly Scribbles Thinlits Dies were the foundation of today’s simple and modern design.   They can be a stand alone element or paired with leaves for a trendy, botanical feel.  The Swirly Scribbles Thinlits Dies will be available for purchase June 1, when the 2016-2017 Annual Catalog begins.

Stay organized!  I mounted the nine dies in the collection (one sits inside the other on the bottom right) to my magnet cards from Stamp-N-Storage.

  • For fine dies (like Swirly Scribbles), I recommend using the Stampin’ Up! Precision Base Plate.  It gives a clean cut for all those little bits!  Here’s a Stampin’ Up! video demonstration with tips on how to use the plate and get the best results.

  • My Stampin’ Up! Whisper White Medium Envelope gets a coordinated look on the flap with a polka dot pattern from the 2015-2017 In Color Designer Series Paper Stack.  I layered the flap with the paper and trimmed the excess using my Paper Snips.  Watch my video demonstration.

  1. How do you attach the swirly scribbles dies to the card? I have tried using tape runners, glue pens, xyron, etc. My problem is that I want to attach it directly onto glitter paper and none of these will stick to the paper. I even tried scoreit tape, but the tape shows through the card and makes it sticky. I have also tried the stick it tape, but I find that very difficult to use. Thank you.

    • Glitter paper is tough to get things to stick to. Here are my recommendations:

Have you tried the Multipurpose Liquid Glue? This would be the best option that Stampin’ Up! carries.

My other recommendation would be to crop the swirly scribbles die from the glitter paper so that you are not trying to stick it to the glitter, but to the card stock you are adhering the glitter paper to. If you want it to pop up from the glitter paper, you could snip Stampin’ Dimensionals to size and adhere with those.

Please let me know if I can assist you further.

  4. There’s a definite improvement, Amy, with the Precision Plate (detailed dies only). However, I use wax paper the first time I use a die (even with the Precision Plate) just to make it a little “slicker.” Might not be necessary but that’s what I do.

  5. I love the scribbles! I’m curious about the precision plate…I watched the video link that you shared and it looks good! Right now I’m using wax paper and bounce sheets….maybe I wouldn’t have to do that anymore with the precision plate? Thanks Mary for the help and the inspiration 🙂
