  1. I really like the red stamp… Permanently secured on the wooden blocks!!!! Old school but I like feel of the wooden block… Stamping quality!!! Thanks for asking!!!

  2. I personally love the photopolymer stamps the best because I can get the placement on the card so much more acccurately. However for the clarity of wording the red rubber with a wood handle was my number 1 choice before the new style came out. Therefore I own a large number of the wood mounted red rubber stamps. Please thank Stampin Up for me for the new cases! They make storage so much easier.

  3. I love the photopolymer stamps! They make layering sooo much easier and I like that every once in a while I can clean them under running water using a mild soap. Also love the way they stick to the block, no more ruining a card because the stamp has fallen off before I’ve cleared the card stock!

  4. I have to admit (and maybe I am the only one) that I’m still in love with the original wood mount stamp sets! While I love the clear and photopolymer stamps, my first love was with the wood mount sets. I still have my very first SU stamp set from 16 years ago….

  7. Since I’m somewhat new to stamping … the clear mount stamps work best for me. I can see exactly where the imprint will be. Using a spongy mat really works neat.

  9. What a FABULOUS giveaway!!!!!!!! 🙂

My favorite stamps are the clear-mount! You get the best of both worlds with the clear. They take up less room to store and still give you such a nice, crisp, clean (with no caffeine-just kidding!) impression!!! 😉

  26. I didn’t think I’d like it….but now I LOVE photopolymer! Sometimes I struggle with getting them to “stick” to the block, but I still love them. ?

  27. I prefer the clear mount stamps. I miss the wood blocks because I enjoyed the feel of them but that could not justify the amount of space they consume. With the clear mount, I have the crisp image that rubber stamps produce and more room for paper and embellishments

    Reply
  28. Hi! My favorite stamp type is the clear mount. I prefer them to the wood mount simply because 2 clear mount stamp sets can be stored in the same space as 1 wood mount stamp set. I prefer clear mount to the Photopolymer because I like the way the stamp inks up and the resulting stamped image. Clear Mount stamps and a Stamp-a-ma-jig can be used for perfect image placement.

    Reply
  29. clear mount…when they first came out, I resisted purchasing them, and then at stamp club, clear mount was the stamp of choice and essentially, I never looked back. I started growing my clear mount collection and switching all of my wood mount-removing the wood from the rubber from a couple 100 sets.

  30. Photopolymer have become my favorite for ease of use. But still use all three types and each has their advantage.

  31. Honestly, if Stampin’ Up makes it – I am a fan! I am big on tradition and thought I would never give up wood blocks and my Stamp-a-ma-jig. However, I have really found an appreciation for photo polymer. I can see right where the image will appear. Plus, I have more condensed storage (so, I can fit more stamp sets in my limited space!)

    Reply
  32. I’m stuck on wood-mount stamps because they are always ready to use – just reach for the box and an ink pad, and go! Wood-mount stamps, long with a stamp-a-majig, are a perfect pair.

  33. Well, I like clear for word stamps. I like wood for the ease of grab, stamp and go. However, since center I can’t ever part with any, I need the clear for ease of storage. ?

  44. I like the idea of the photopolymer, but can’t quite get the image as clear as I want. I usually buy the clear-mount because of price (I can buy more for the same money — and more is better) and ease of storing, but the wood mount is my favorite.

  47. By far the Clearmount stamps are best for me. I love the SU acrylic blocks- so durable!! Clear stamps are easier to store with no bulky wood. The polymer are too sticky and when you clean them sometimes little fibers can stick to them which is a bit of a pain.

I prefer greetings, skinny stamps, and background stamps to be in wood mount as well as things that I know will be highly used (i.e. lovely as a tree). I prefer photopolymer for multi-layer and build-a-scene sets. Everything else can be clear mount to save on space. 🙂

However… i now get the photopolymer for easier storage, easier to place correctly on a page and less cost… but one nice thing that I really appreciate is that they are easier to clean. They are practically clean after you stamp an image… that truly makes stamping even more fun than it already is !!!

  134. I like Photopolymer best because they cling o the block best. They also seem to take less ink. I like that you can see them absorbing the ink when you just lay it on the stamp pad. However, I have more Clear Mount stamps than anything because that is how I started collecting them. The wooden ones work well but they are harder for me to store in my space.

Sometimes the new ones don’t hold ink as well. I’ve solved that issue by first stamping with VersaMark, swiping off with your hand and then stamping the ink pad. REALLY WORKS! Love your blog!

I also like to use snowflake stamps for Christmas cards and love to random stamp snowflakes. The photopolymer I love for lining up. Like on the humming bird and butterfly stamp set with stamping more than one image.

I also put a piece of scrap paper on the pad you use with the photopolymer clearmount stamps. This way I can stamp on it for practice.

A also like the brush stroke stamps as I can be more creative with it.
I sure would like SU to print the back of the stamp instead of having us put the plastic on the back because they stick more to the acrylic block. From a business point of view I believe it would help keep the present customers who want to go to the competitors.

  267. I am all about the old school wood-mounted stamps. My mom was an SU demonstrator for a good 10 + years of my childhood. (She actually got to meet you at a convention one year- one of her favorite SU memories!) The clear stamps were just beginning to roll out when she stopped being a demonstrator. So, the wood stamps are what I’m used to, and they’re what I love! 🙂

I wish SU offered all stamps in this format.By the way, my 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students all just used the photopolymer stamp set, Everything, from the April Paper Pumpkin to make Mother’s Day cards. They did a great job because they could see where they were placing the stamps.

  281. Not sure which I like more, clear or photopolymer. The photopolymer make it easy to place your stamp where you want it because you can see through it. But sometimes they do not stamp as well as the clear stamps. I am not fond of the wood. They take up too much room to store, and if you are going cropping, get heavy.

Though I do like the solidness of the woodblock stamps and my collection consists mostly of them, I invested in the complete set of acrylic blocks with my rewards during sale-a-brat ion and I am moving towards the clear mount stamps. Naturally I buy the photopolymer stamps as some stamps come only in that choice.

  354. Oh definitely my first choice is photopolymer. That is my first criteria in choosing a new stamp set to purchase. My first reason is the way they stick to the clear blocks. The second is you can see where you are stamping. I don’t love the clear stamps as my backing always seems to make the stamps curve or bend, as if I put them on too tight and I am meticulous in applying them. Most times, I do not apply the labels to the stamps any more. I put them on the case instead. Again, they curl around the edges there too. Wood stamps just take up too much space.
