Coffee and you . . . this card is perfect for my daughter, Caroline. When she comes home from college, our morning ritual is making coffee (thank you, Keurig!) and spending cherished mother/daughter time together. I treasure our conversations, punctuated by sips of coffee. That’s the beauty of handcrafted cards and will make for a heartfelt surprise in her mail!
My card design was inspired by this week’s Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge (MOJO433). My twist? I substituted the coffee mug for the center square.
STAMPIN’ PRETTY TIPS:
- Let the dies do the work! I adore the Cups & Kettle Framelits Dies. Consider the possibilities for valentines, friendship, birthday, tea time or dinner party invitations (knife, fork and spoon).
- Stampin’ Up! Thick Whisper White Card Stock gives die cut elements like the cup and tag extra heft! It’s one of My Favorite Things from the Annual Catalog.
- I used A Nice Cuppa (“and you” tag) and Balloon Celebration (“coffee”) stamp sets for the sentiments.
- Coordinating lined envelopes are a snap with pretty paper (Have a Cuppa Designer Series Paper Stack) and Stampin’ Up! Envelope Liners Framelits Dies (3 sizes customized for 3 Stampin’ Up! envelope styles).
- I recommend using the Magnetic Platform to keep the paper design for the liner in place during it’s trip through the Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine.
- I cropped just the coffee mug base in Melon Mambo to add a simple splash of personality!

OK, my assistant, Kris, just sent me this to make me feel better. Coffee singles with a tag hanging out (although I confess to using a Keurig and simply goofed). http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/71SAVkES1yL._SX522_.jpg
The background paper is perfect to salute the morning routine that you & Caroline have established. Makes me miss Beth cuz that is our routine too. As for the tea bag, you are just covering all the morning possibilities!
Thanks, Ginger, for giving me an excuse! I’m laughing at myself.
Oh my word! Someone kindly pointed out that I have a tea bag hanging out of a coffee cup! I seriously didn’t notice that “oops” but will update “coffee” to “tea!” Sorry if I confused anyone!
Thank you for yoru sweet comments. I adore that many of you can relate to the beauty of coffee time with our adults kids!
Hi Mary, I love this card. It was the first bundle I purchased. I also love coffee and time with my two daughters. It is so important to make memories together! Have a great day!
🙂
I love your card! Most of all I love your coffee story. My college daughter and I do the same thing!
I LOVE this card. The Cups & Kettles die cut is one of my favorite sets, along with the dsp. It’s so versatile for many occasions. Thanks, Mary, for your great ideas.
I’m sure Caroline is going to adore her card. My favorite part is the ‘heart’ steam coming out of the top of the cup. LOVE THIS CARD MARY!
Such a great card! You’ve done this sketch proud, I’m sure. 🙂 I love the little touch of Melon Mambo at the base of the cup.
Thanks, Brian. As a side note, I practiced all weekend saying Melon MAHM-bo (vs. Ma’am Bo).
What a beautiful card Mary, love the heart shaped steam floating out of this pretty cup. Melon Mambo and Black look awesome together.
Thank you for sharing.
