Today’s holiday card idea offers a cheerful mix of color and whimsy. Good news! The Reindeer Paper Clips are back in stock! However, they are retiring and only available while supplies last. See ALL products retiring from the Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalog here.
I used this week’s Pals Paper Arts Sketch Challenge as the foundation of my design, tweaking the placement of the buttons (trust me, it’s OK). Check out what the rest of the PPA Design Team has created with this sketch here.
STAMPIN’ PRETTY TIPS:
- I love this collection of sentiments from Oh, What Fun stamp set. It’s photopolymer (my “clear” favorite) for easy placement.
- A single Real Red Candy Dot brings out the “Rudolph” in the Reindeer Paper Clip.
- The little details. In addition to the Reindeer Paper Clip (retiring), three buttons from Home For Christmas Designer Buttons (also retiring) provide balance and color. Get these products while supplies last. See holiday catalog retiring products list.
- I dotted the star button with a rhinestone for a little holiday bling!
- I like to keep buttons in place with Glue Dots.

Mary you took that reindeer clip from cute to adorable. LOVE the red nose.
Ms Mary, your cards are simple but very pretty!!
It depends on the DSP. Last year I used silver with blues and greens. This year I am using gold with white and black.
So cute! I made a little mini card with the reindeer clip and the candy dot for his nose. Now, I just might have to make a normal card as this is just too cute! But I think I need that sentiment to go with! It really makes the card! Love the buttons too. Thanks for the tip about using the glue dots to hold it on – I was wondering about that if I mailed one. I have definitely bought my share of the butterfly stamp! Have a great Thanksgiving Mary with your family!
Such a fun card, Mary! I love happy mistakes.
Absolutely ADORABLE. Already pinned… 🙂
Thanks, Katy. I love your comments and enjoy being part of the PPA design team with you.
Oh, what fun is right! I love the trio of buttons and of course, Rudolph. He’s adorable.
Thanks, Dawn. I tried a red pom pom for his nose but it was too big. One of the Pals sharing the idea of adding a Real Red Candy Dot. Perfect!
Yep! Definitely a fun card. 🙂
This is adorable with that reindeer clip!
I fell in love immediately with the reindeer clips and ordered a few packs….they really make a great card…tfs!
Woo hoo, Carol! Glad you ordered them, too!
I agree . . . red stripes for Christmas are classic!
Your card today is so bright and fun. Great way to use the reindeer clips! The red stripes make this card shine.
Scoop those adorable clips up now, Robbye! There’s still a decent inventory!
Adorable card, and an interesting take on the challenge sketch. I love those reindeer clips and with antlers being so hot I wish they weren’t retiring just yet. I love how you layered.
oh what fun is the perfect name for this card!
Oh MsMary, I love it !! Just got that stamp free for taking my Big Shot to On Stage ,
What was I thinking, (legs) but I heard free stamp set , lol ,
Tfs,
Hugs frenchie,
Plus I walk the stage , WOOOOOO, ??
And plenty of time to still use it for this year’s holidays! Bravo, Frenchie
Hi MIsa: Good question about the clips. Much will depend on how much it gets bumped around on the journey in the mail. That we can’t control. If you want to give it a try, I suggest you use some glue dots on the back side (below where the back clips) to help keep the clip in place. Be sure to use a “non-machinable” stamp (has a butterfly on it and says “non-machinable”) stamp. Place thin bubble wrap or a piece of cardstock on the top of the card as a protective layer. M
I love the reindeer paper clip! Now I’m thinking to use them to make my Christmas cards. Do you think clip stays in place when I send a card in mail?
SUPER Playful and FUN Card my friend. THANKS for sharing!
Appreciate your kind words, Kadie. Your comments start my day with a smile!
Thanks for your comments. The skewed layer was a bit of an accident (bumped the card while playing with the concept). However, I decided it added to the whimsy and rolled with it!
Hi Mary, I love this whimsical card. It pop with fun and color. Love Rudolph’s nose . . . I had never seen that tip before. Now I might have to get these clips.
Mary, I love this card, the sentiment says if all!! The little Rudolph with his red nose is just so adorable. Beautiful way to interpret the sketch.
Thank you for sharing.
