Stampin’ Up! No Bones About It Card Idea

Stampin Up No Bones About It dinosaur birthday card mary fish stamping pretty

After our fun conversation in the comments section on yesterday’s card, I decided to create a card using Stampin’ Up! No Bones About It stamp set for a friend’s 71st birthday (a good enough friend that would enjoy the gentle ribbing).  Dinosaurs clearly aren’t just for little ones.

Fortunately, the recipient has a good sense of humor and this sentiment (Stampin’ Up! Age Awareness stamp set) will give him a chuckle.

The sassy black and white paper for the card and envelope liner is from Everyday Chic Designer Series Paper.

  1. I purchased this set. I can not get a clean stamp image. Totally frustrated with the photopolymer. The ink sows not even go on evenly. It bobbles in some places and is too thin in others. What am I doing wrong!?

    • A few things that may help with getting a clean, stamped image.
      1) Make sure your ink pad is evenly inked. Sometimes, too much ink can make it pool on the stamp. Does it stamp this way with all ink colors?
      2) Make sure you have a cushy surface under your stamping area (Piercing Mat, etc) so that it has a bit of give to allow your image to stamp evenly.
      3) When did you purchase the set? A call to Stampin’ Up! support may be needed and the best resolution if you feel you have a faulty stamp. 1-800-782-6787

  2. I have to agree that we need to be careful who we tease with affection and be mindful of who might not like it. Don, my 71 year old birthday “boy,” invites this kind of humor (he’s a teaser himself).

  3. This is so awesome and so much fun! I’ve always felt the age awareness thing to be a little insulting, but it is a scream when paired with dinosaur bones.

  4. Oh Mary, this is so clever and cute!! My father-in-law would love this (he is 87)! I think Brian is having an influence on you – lol – in a good way, of course:-). As a former middle school teacher, I can only imagine what the 11-12 yr. old boys would do with the dinosaur set and Gorgeous Grunge – and some Real Red ink – eeeww! Lol!

  6. Mary, Love this sentiment with the dino! I really wanted to get this set but there are no little boys in our family. Now you’ve got me thinking out of the box. Thanks for sharing.

  7. THANKS for sharing this darling card with us. I’m making this card for Jack’s next birthday (82). He has an amazing sense of humor and I think he’s going to love it. SO GLAD I went and ordered this set (this week).

  8. As a seventy-seven year old, I was uncomfortable with the attempt at humor on this card. We may be old, but we’re not dinosaurs.

    • I understand perfectly, Charmaine. I wouldn’t send it to anyone that I didn’t think would enjoy the gentle ribbing–a little humor about aging between good friends can be fun.

  9. Thanks for your sweet feedback. As we discussed yesterday, there are many options for this card beyond the little ones. Over the hill . . . perfect birthday. We have been married for a long time or “old” friends with two dinosaurs!

  10. Oh my gosh Mary!!! you did it again!! what a fabulous card, I just love the sentiment, I also think it would be super funny to send a card like this one to any friend of family member in our age bracket, they definitely would get a kick out of it.
I’m anxiously waiting for July to roll by (I must stick to this darn budget, LOL!! ;)) so I can order this super fun set plus the linen thread, I might go a bit overboard and get one of the sets with those cute kids with all of the accessories on pages 44 and 45, love both of them.
    Thank you for sharing.
