Making Marvelous Mosaics

Stampin up stampinup mary fish stampin pretty striped scallop die 1

The inspiration for today’s mosaic card was this rug on the Home Decorator’s website.  How did I do?

STAMPIN’ PRETTY TIPS:

  • The Stampin’ Up! Striped Scallop Thinlits Die became the frame for holding the mosaic pattern.  I used Very Vanilla card stock for the die cut as well as the A2 card base.

  • Stampin’ Up! Adhesive Sheets, Liquid Multipurpose Glue with a Paper-Piercing Tool (my choice) or a Sakura Glue Pen are all excellent ways to adhere the die cut to the card base.  I just dot the edges with glue and random spots in between.
  • Scraps of card stock in Brushed Gold, Lost Lagoon and Basic Gray were cropped with the Striped Scallop Thinlits Die to get the “mosaic” bits.  They are easy peezy to layer into the framework with a touch of Snail Adhesive.Stampin up stampinup mary fish stampin pretty striped scallop die 3
  • An Antique Brad makes a bold statement on the Brushed Gold Butterfly (Elegant Butterfly Punch).Stampin up stampinup mary fish stampin pretty striped scallop die
  • For best results, add a piece of waxed paper between the die and the card stock when cutting with the Big Shot.  This makes it much easier to remove the die cut and pieces.
  • Hover and Pin it! Here’s a photo showing key products for today’s card that you can save or pin to Pinterest. See ALL my product photos in one spot on my How to Make Simple Cards board on Pinterest.

  1. What a unique card! I am anxiously awaiting the video. I am interested in how you achieved the small color “tiles” to fit into the die? Simply beautiful.

  10. Spot on Mary! I stayed away from that thinlit but I don’t think so any longer. I bought that cross stamp (single stamp – might be retired now) and now I’m thinking this design could be a stained glass window as the backdrop to the cross focal image. You did a great job. Thanks for the inspiration.

  13. Mary, this is really amazing! So beautiful and creative! You are a master for translating “other decor items” into great looking cards! Such much inspiration you give us all. When I look at home type magazines, I try to see them with a different eye, but haven’t succeeded in doing that yet. I’ll keep trying!
