Pretty Little Pink & Gold Gift Box

Sometimes I covet pretty packaging more than I do the gift inside.  How about you?  This little box in Melon Mambo and Gold Foil was inspired by this box (bottom right) on the Pottery Barn website.

STAMPIN’ PRETTY TIPS:

  • I heat embossed the “H” and little flowers (all from Sophisticated Serifs photopolymer stamp set) with Stampin’ Up! Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder.

  • Gold Foil can be a little “slick” when using VersaMark.  Take your time and stamp straight down and up for clean results.

  • To keep things simple and quick, I used the Stampin’ Up! Gift Box Punch Board to create the 4 x 4 x 1.75″ Gold Foil Box.  See the Gift Box Punch Board in action with this Stampin’ Up! video.

  • Since the box opens from the top, I created a cover (adhered discreetly in a number of places below the ribbon and monogram) that folds back to reveal access.  Very polished.
  • Each Melon Mambo panel is sized 1/4″ smaller than the Gold Foil area.

SO DO YOU THINK I managed to create a hand crafted version of the pink & gold Pottery Barn gift box?

  2. Hi Nancy . . . that was an oops on my part. I used the Gift Box Punch Board and updated my supplies list as well as blog post. The Gift Box Punch Board creates boxes in a number of different sizes–no adhesive needed. The Envelope Punch Board is designed to create custom sized envelopes (however, as noted in these comments, there are ways to use it to make boxes–I havent tried that). Hugs, M

  3. I noticed that you used the Envelope Punch Board to make your beautiful box. I was wondering if the Envelope Punch Board and the Gift Box Punch Board are basically the same. Do they both make boxes? Thanks.

  6. Mary, the gift box is absolutely beautiful! I think it is especially neat the way you made it so the top decorated piece just lifts away to reveal the opening of the box. Very clever! Thanks for sharing.

  7. Hi Mary
Love this! I plan on getting the alphabet set with my first stamp n start order which I will earn at the end of April,
You know I don’t have much confidence in my creativity. I appreciate the tip about using magazines for inspiration. I promise to create something this way. One thing that always inspired me was the carpets on the floors at each convention! Crazy, right!

  12. So you can make a small box on the envelope punch board, 1/2 x 3 1/8 x 3 1/4. I learned this by watching the video you had in your post, Mary, thanks. I couldn’t figure out how your box was so much bigger. Lol
I don’t have the gift box punch board… Yet!

  13. OMGoodness…what a ritzy, ritzy looking gift box! I absolutely LOVE the colors you used. What a BRILLIANT closure. I just don’t like having to destroy a box to get to the goodies and this is a perfect way to prevent that from happening.
So very nicely done! Thanks so much for sharing with us!

  16. The box is beautiful. I love the color combination. I was wondering why you used the envelope punch board instead of the box punch board? Just curious. I didn’t even realize that you could make a box on the envelope board. I learn so many new things from you.

  17. Hi Wanda: The box is currently empty. However, based on the size, it could accommodate any number of small gifts. I have it ready to go for my neighbor (H) because she is always doing special things for me and I want to do something in return. M

  18. What a gorgeous box! The box alone is a perfect gift! What did you put inside? I spend more time on the presentation of the gift also. The homemade part of the gift shows the feeling!
