My favorite leftover T-Day is to recreate the same meal: turkey, sage dressing and mashed potatoes smothered in gravy, green bean casserole, sweet potatoes, roll and cranberry sauce! Although I have loved hosting family for over 20 years, as the hostess, sometimes my plate of food cools before I can really sit down and enjoy it…..and reflect on all the things I’m thankful for! Happy Birthday, Mary! Enjoy your day! My Mom shared the same birthday with you so I know it’s a good one! Thank you for your inspiration! My favorite Thanksgiving leftover is the turkey!

  212. My favorite is dressing with gravy of course and toss in a little cranberry salad for good measure. And, Happy Birthday. My daughter was born the day before Thanksgiving many years ago so we have double celebrating at this time of the year.

  213. Stuffing/dressing hands down. Sometimes I only eat the dressing and noodles and skip on the actual turkey. Happy Birthday, Mary. How sweet of you to think of US on YOUR birthday:)

  214. Leftovers from Thanksgiving? Oh my, cold turkey sandwiches! I love turkey cold and much prefer that to hot turkey on Thanksgiving. But I didn’t make a turkey this year and my mouth is watering for a sandwich! We made tamales and had Mexican food because our daughter and her family went to the in-laws for turkey dinner and we didn’t want them to have to eat two of them on the same day. So this year, my favorite leftover is pie. I made a coconut cream pie. Again, so they wouldn’t have pumpkin two meals in a row. 🙂

  215. My favorite Thanksgiving leftover is very specific! Whole wheat white bread (Wonder bread white works, too) turkey, Miracle Whip and bread and butter pickles. The strange thing is I don’t really care for Miracle Whip most of the year and generally I prefer darker bread that contains wheat, oats, sunflower seeds, caraway and other goodies. I believe it’s a throw back to my childhood when those things were commonplace.

Gotta love the memories and how they transport us to another time and place!

  216. Richard Hanna

    Happy Happy Birthday Mary.
I can’t get enough cranberry sauce. Yum’

  424. Woo hoo! Another chance at this most awesome blog candy 🙂 My absolute favorite Thanksgiving leftover is the sweet potato casserole – and I always make a double batch so I can have leftovers. Scoop out all the remainder from the bowl, whip all that goodness including the melted marshmallows into a smooth but still firm consistency, and then plop that into a Ziplock bag. Clip one corner and then pipe the whipped sweet potato onto waxed paper on a cookie sheet, swirling the sweet potato into small circular mounds (sometimes I’ll use a cake decorating large star tip to create interest). Pop into the freezer for about an hour, then remove the frozen mounds from the waxed paper and store in a freezer Ziplock until ready to use as a single (or multiple) serving – reheating in oven or microwave. Yum.
