With as passionate as so many of us are about our four legged friends, I’m finding that pet congrats (new puppy, newly adopted) as well as sympathy cards for a loss are becoming an essential.
I created a similar puppy paw card using punched pieces in a previous post.
However, for today’s card and video, I share how simple it is to create
a puppy paw template that floats over white, colors or even designer
series paper. Have fun with this simple technique!
STAMPIN’ PRETTY TIPS:
- So that the Stampin’ Up! Small Oval Punch can reach where it needs to go, I cropped the Whisper White square to 3 1/8″.
- A Hearts Collection Framelits Die (second to the smallest) was used to create the bottom part of the paw.
- New Catalog Sneak Peek! The luscious Bermuda Bay button is part of the redesigned Brights Designer Buttons Collection. The buttons will be available May 31 (this friday!), when the new Stampin’ Up! Catalog begins.
- Stampin’ Up! Glue Dots keep buttons securely in place.

What could be more heartfelt than a handmade card commemorating Brandy! Glad this card inspired you!
Mary your wonderful card comes just at a time of need. My good friend had to put her 14 year old dog Brandy to sleep a few days ago and I wanted to send her a hug and love. Thank you so much. I know that when my dog Murphy became sick and I had to take that drastic step of putting him to sleep the outpouring of love from friends and family that came in the form of cards, emails etc. really helped my husband and I with our grief.
This is way too cute! I am casing this for my stamp club tonight! ALL of my gals are dog lovers and I know they will be so excited to see such a fun card. Thanks for all your great ideas!
Totally cute!! Love it!!
Mary, I always love your 1 minute to WOW videos. Thank you for the cute one today and I love punches!!! Cindy
Thank you sooo much for the wow tutorial. I have been wanting to make this card that I have seen all over the place and I just couldn’t figure out how. I am such a dog lover.
thanks for sharing,
hugs
Awwwww. That’s adorable!
LOL. Darn auto correct…..time and TALENTS!
Adorable. Your posts are so inspiring. Thank you for being so generous with your time and alerts.
Pawsitively the cutest, paws down! Oh, I gotta make some of these for our hound rescue league. This will be so fun for the humane society to use also. This is great for most occasions regarding a four legged friend. Thanks Mary for a fun new touch!
I love this so much! As you know, I’m a dog lover to the enth degree. I’ve made so many pet cards I’ve lost count. This is really clever using a combination of ovals and a heart to create the paw. Can’t wait to use this. I also have an idea to use this in a project I’m working on. Thanks so much for sharing this and your creativity! Best, Curt
Yes, Stampin’ Up! has two retired sets , C is for Cat, and D is for Dog, that are perfect for this purpose. Also, the baby sets may have a Congrats on your new arrival that will work for a new pet. I have even made these cards for vets’ offices to send.
How clever you are!!
You always inspire me with your talents! You are my morning dose of sunshine and exactly what I need to get my creativity flowing! Thank you so much for it all!!
Mary I will be forever grateful to you for coming up with the orignal punch idea and now the reverse. Most of my cards are for shelters and rescues! Furry (hugs) to you!
Mary, Love it so much! Thanks for including the furry friends in your stamping! Can’t wait to make up some for the Pug Rescue I volunteer for. THANK YOU!
What a cute idea. Using the DSP to see where to punch the oval is a terrific idea. Thanks for sharing your creativity.
Thanks so much for posting a card that we can make and send for fellow dog lovers! My own pup is a shelter rescue and I volunteer for the local HS – these will be great to send out to the families when the dogs are taken to their “fur-ever” homes!
How perfect! I can’t wait to CASE this. Thanks so much for sharing.
Stinkin Cute Card Mary! My Grand-Dog Trinity is going to love receiving this card. Thanks for sharing with us.
I have made several cards for pet loss but this paw print punch out is awesome! What a great idea!
Mary– you must have been reading my mind! I need to create a Thank You card for our neighbor boy who took care of our four (yes, I said FOUR– 3 labs, one of which is a 9 month old BIG puppy, and a beagle) dogs while we were out of town the past four days, and this is PERFECT!! After I get a load of laundry on, it will be off to my craft table to CASE your card. Thanks again for daily dose of creative inspiration!!!
Awesome idea, how cute and fun!! A great card for all who love our four legged friends. My neighbor (3 houses down the street) just got a dog form our local shelter, I think the doggie is a mix Doberman/with other kind with long fur. He is the sweetest dog, playful and obedient and you can see it in his handsome face, he is so grateful to have a fabulous home now with loving people who will take care of him for many years to come. Thanks Mary for this wonderful and sweet pet card.
oh what a great idea with the DSP to make it easier to line up for the paw!!
LOVE LOVE !!
I have made some for pet losses as well as a thank you to our vet when we had to put our Golden down.
You rock with these 1 minute tutorials
THANK YOU!!
