  1. I love going to the parade and honoring all our veterans. The one’s who have given me the freedom to be there. My son had the honor of carrying the flag with his K-Kids service group from school. It was a proud moment and I was grateful he was carrying the flag tall and strong.

  4. Camping & stamping! I always bring along some supplies to create my scrapbook lo’s for the camping trip and make them right there at the picnic table. If they end up getting a little grunged up, all the better. There’s noting like creating out in the middle of nature!!

  6. Our over 55 community is filled with Veterans, so this is a special time. We have a ceremony to honor all veterans and then a parade with decorated convertibles and golf carts. It then culminates with a cook out with tradional holiday food and the funds raised from the cookout go to Hope For Heroes. It is a great event that honors all Vets and their loved ones.

  9. My favorite Memorial Day weekend activity is to spend it with family. We will smoke some meat and enjoy our married children and their spouses. Grandchild number one is on the way. We will also spend some quiet time remembering the men who fought and died to protect our country. Before the kids arrive we will spend some time working in the yard and then hop in the not tub to soak our tired old bones! We purchased some baby clothes and we are excited to see our daughter and son-in-law’s faces when they open them. That is such a wonderful time in a young couple’s life!

The grand finale being the parade on Monday with all of the school children, bands, scouts,VFW, fire trucks, horses etc. the parade all marches to the oldest of the 2 Cemetarys for a remembrance ceremony for the fallen soldiers. The children carry flowers in the parade to put on the soldiers graves to decorate. Then we all spend time with family at a cookout. That is a family tradition that I will be during. 264. Stamping with a little pampering for sure. And a movie marathon…gotta have a movie marathon. Add in time remembering the reason for the holiday and the people I’ve known who’ve given service and it’s a perfect weekend.
When I lived closer to family we used to spend an afternoon of Memorial Day weekend at the cemetery cleaning up family graves (and their neighbors if they needed it) and sharing a picnic with grandma and grandpa. Now most of the family I shared those times with are gone themselves and I hope that their neighbors families are looking with fondness at them on a special day.

Thanks Mary for sharing the candy and the thoughts of a fun weekend.
    Hugs and blessings.

  266. This weekend we are home with two of our grandchildren, ages 8 (boy) and 11 (girl). Their parents’ anniversary was the 23rd, so they are on a much deserved and needed ‘get-a-way’. We were sitting around the kitchen table and they made cards for the anniversary to give to Mom and Dad when they get back.
I was designing something masculine for a Father’s day gift for a church that we volunteer our skills to.
Extra time with family and creating cards, what more could I want? 🙂

Now, I put flags out in front of our house and look for a parade in the area to go to. Since I am no longer in my childhood state, I like to get together with my children, BBQ, and go to the Veterans Memorial in another town so that I can feel that I am honoring those who fought so hard for our freedom.

  395. Awesome – thank you for the chance to enter. What I love about Memorial Day is being able to sleep in and not rush the girls off to school. We can all play in my stamp room and come up with some creative ideas.

  396. Memorial Day Weekend always happens just before June 1st which is the deadline for planting grass in the Farm Service Agency program, so my husband will be busy all weekend planting grass for others.
WHICH leaves me LOTS of stamping time! Ah, shucks!

Those are all great options for enjoying the family time over the Memorial Day holiday, but I plan to play catch up in my garden and take advantage of all this ALabama sunshine to pamper my new veggie sprouts! Thanks for the opportunity to win some goodies, and for the years of creative inspiration. You’re the BEST!

  408. Favorite activity for Memorial weekend…first, I’m thankful for the men and women who have given the ultimate sacrifice for their country. The freedom they fought for allows me to pursue my passion of crafting. I am making a wedding card today for a cousin who is getting married this evening in our beautiful town of Charleston, SC. The weather is AMAZING today (not humid or unbearably hot!)! I will have the opportunity to visit with family that lives out of town, and catch up with all of their children, work, etc. GREAT WEEKEND!!! Grateful is what I am! <3

  419. My sister and I are going to a professional baseball game along with her daughter who just graduated from high school. My sister’s 19 year old son died last year but played baseball while growing up. Our father has been dead since 1975, but he listened to games on his transistor radio after losing his sight. We thought the best way to honor them was to see a game which they both loved.

  420. OOOHHH! After a few week of gearing up for Teacher Appreciation Week for my 3 daughters (who are at 3 different school) my house looks like a paper factory exploded! No kidding! I do not have the good fortune of having a crafting room so the dining table and the coffee table and any surface that I can set thing to dry is what I have to work with. So I will be MAJOR cleaning this weekend. It would be kinda nice to relax if I get a chance though.
    Blessings,
    Valerie

  421. Memorial Day weekend is when I usually try to ‘catch-up’ on different things including stamping.

Sunday are celebrating our Grand daughters birthday and I need to make a different birthday card for her. I bought an outfit [plus lots more of course], but love the colors in the outfit so want to make a card to match!

Thanks for the wonderful give-away Mary! Hope your having a great weekend also!!
