Absolutely WOW! Paper Wreath from Kindra!

Kindra Delaney Wreath2-002
Sometimes a paper crafting project
comes along that literally makes my jaw drop.  That's how I presume you
will feel, too, about this paper wreath created by Kindra Delaney, today's guest
stamper and a member of my Stampin' Pretty Pals.
Kindra Delaney flower2-002
Interesting tidbit from Kindra:
The wreath took about 400 little cones give or take a few.  She says she
lost count at 330.  She also created a coordinating card and tag
(below).  Woo hoo!

Please note Kindra doesn't have a
blog.  However, if you leave a comment below with your feedback and
questions, she will happily respond!

  2. Sorry Michelle the pictures did not turn out as great as I would have liked. If you enlarge the close up of the flower detail accent on the wreath you might see in the whisper white card stock I stamped in pool party using En Francais. I stamped both sides if my paper before punching. Really this wreath is so much prettier in person ;o)

  3. Kindra I noticed that in your supplies list you had the stamp En Francais, I was just wondering where and how you used it as it is not apparent from the picture. Thanks. Really enjoyed seeing your work and looking to seeing lots more. When your blog is up please have Mary post a link so we can find you.

  4. TFS Kindra. I am working on a bow design using cones-actually received a commercial one on a Christmas package and then took it apart. Your wreath looks like the cousins of my bow-t0-be. Your patience is amazing!

  5. Hello and good morning, Kindra: Thank you for your words of encouragement.? Your wreath is absolutely beautiful and totally worth the effort to make one.? You are right, the DSP that SU has are so beautiful and doing this project with them, you will be able to enjoy both sides.? Its difficult for me to waste the side of the DSP that will be under my card projects but in your wreath, both sides are visible.

A project like this requires patience and time, you just cant rush it?and?the beauty of it is that you can easily make smaller wreaths using smaller styrofoam bases.
Thank you for replying to my comments and thank you for sharing the recipe to make this truly awesome wreath!!

Take care and have a wonderful day!!

  8. Wow! When I saw the word “wreath”, I thought it was going to be one of those folded crimped paper circles wreaths. This is so much better.

  9. Maria, you could totally make one! Really it is easier than it looks. Mostly it is just time consuming. If you are able to dedicate time to sit down and work on it I doubt it would take you as long as it did me. My downfall is I am a complete perfectionist! So as a result I tend to work rather slowly to get things just how I want them. Stampin’ Up’s selection of Designer Series paper makes it so easy. Just start with your DSP, then pick coordinating DSP color collections or plain card stock in coordinating colors and you are off to a great start!

  10. Nancy, if you look at my reply to Phyllis and Debbie you will see the “basic instructions.” Most cones were made with the 2 3/8 inch scallop circle punch, and a few using the 1 3/4 inch scallop circle punch. Details are in those replies. If you need further details or instruction, let me know. Thanks for the wow!

  11. Well Kindra, I will say this again, your wreath is absolutely breathtaking. Thank you for writing the “recipe” for it. I wonder if, on one of those very cold, very gray days up her in NW. Indiana, I can sit down and do this? The end result is totally worth the effort.
Thanks again for sharing this gorgeous project.
    Maria.

  15. Debbie, I forgot to mention, I did not spray the paper with anything. I plan on keeping it indoors so the elements and dust won’t get it too bad. I imagine it could be dusted off with a can of that compressed air you use on your keyboard. You could always test a spray sealant on a sepearate cone, before you sprayed the project.bhope this helps!

  23. Debbie, the wreath took about a month to get together. The cones were the most time consuming. Just follow the instructions to make the cones that I left in response to Phyllis. Then I hot glued them onto the wreath form turning them to face all different directions (for added dimension.) I started by gluing them to the top middle of the wreath with the cones standing up. Then I just filled in and out toward the middle of the form and outside of the form. I added the color and printed cones as needed. I also made several cones out of the colored designer series paper using the 1 3/4″ scallop circle punch to make some smaller shorter cones that were placed inside of white fat cones for color where I needed more, and added dimension. Hope this makes sense! Thank you for your comment! As a side note I did not spend every minute in that month working in the wreath as I have two young girls ages 3 and 6. So I am a full time stay at home mom. preschool and first grade keeps me busy, as does all that elementary school homework ;o)

  24. Sheila, please see my response to Phyllis on how to make the cones. That part was the most time consuming, but not hard to do :o) Thank you for your comment!

  27. Kimberly, please see my comment to Phyllis about how the cones were made. Thank you for the kind comments! I am so honored to be Mary’s guest! Truly I believe the pictures don’t even do it justice!!! The colors in person really pop! I LOVE that Sale-a-bration Sycamore Street paper!

  28. Phyllis, the cones were made with a 2 3/8 scallop circle punch from Stampin’ Up. I just used my bone folder to help curl the circles before rolling them into a cone. Note that you want the side of paper you want to show to be in the middle of the rolled cone. It also looks best to make the bottom end as closed as possible. The cones were held closed using Multiglue. Some cones are rolled really tight, some rolled wide and fat. The smaller skinnier cones were used to fill in tight spots and also inside fatter cones to give the wreath more dimension.

Thanks for the sweet comments I am so flattered! Glad you enjoyed the project! My blog hopefully will be up and running soon!
