Update on Lily Grace

Lily-feb2012Lily Grace and her dad, Justin, my nephew.

6a00e54f95df9288340168ea7b8320970c-500wiThank you for all your well wishes for my little grand niece, Lily Grace.  I have passed them along to her family, too.

Lily Grace had heart surgery several weeks ago and, in true toddler fashion, is doing amazingly well.  Here’s my original post.  From her grandma (my sister, Laurie):  She goes back in a month for a follow up and needs antibiotics for the next six months only for any invasive procedures. Otherwise, there’s follow up every six months and then yearly to be sure the hole is still closed as she grows. The occluder scars over in a few weeks to complete the seal. The hole was slightly bigger than the doctor thought so it was fate that they choose to get it over with.

  16. I have a 15 year old boy who has had 3 open heart surgeries thus far, and continues to thrive every single God given day. I am always amazed at how resilient a fighter my son is.(And all the children we meet on our hospital stays.) Children don’t know any better than to just keep on doing their thing, a day at a time. I am tickled pink to hear another positive story. You will continue to be in my thoughts and prayers, you, Lily Grace, and her family. God Bless!

  20. I’m so glad that Lily Grace is doing well. My grand-nephew is 7 months old and he also has a whole in his heart. He was a twin ( boy and girl) and they were born too soon. Easton has had a hard time at first but seems to be doing better. Not sure when they will surgery but the family prays every day for him. Babies and toddlers are just so amazing. I have grandchildern and just don’t know what I would do without either one.
God bless to you and your family.

  21. so glad to hear Lily Grace is doing well…kids are just amazing in the way they heal and bounce back! How awesome they were able to identify the issue and repair it so early….my brother (age 52) had a stroke this fall (thankfully doing well…a miracle in itself!) but they determined the cause was a never detected hole in his heart which had clotted over and eventually the clot broke loose causing the stroke. WOW! Nobody ever knew he even had it! Since then I have heard many similar stories so Lily Grace is truly blessed to have this problem identified and corrected early on.
