Stampin’ Up! Chock-Full of Cheer Holiday Matchbook

Stampin up demonstrator blog catalog holiday card idea gift matchbook tutorial
It’s hitting over 100 degrees these days in Tucson, AZ, and I’m thinking about Christmas?  REALLY?  Actually, I wanted to share a few more sneak peeks with you from the “be of good cheer” holiday suite in the new Stampin’ Up! 2012-2013 catalog.   Ho ho ho!

DRUM ROLL, PLEASE:  The new catalog begins tomorrow, June 1.  Orders for new products begin at NOON MST.  I’ll post the on-line link to the new catalog on my blog when Stampin’ Up! makes it available.

STAMPIN’ PRETTY TIPS:

  • I stamped the mitten twice (Cherry Cobbler Ink), snipped and popped up the mitten on the left with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Both the mitten and sentiment are from Chock-Full of Cheer stamp set, available June 1.
  • The Gumball Green 3/8″ Stitched Satin Ribbon is easy to work with and oh, so, luscious.  The ribbon, along with the new 2012-2014 Stampin’ Up! In Colors, will be available tomorrow!
  • Stampin’ Up! Be of Good Cheer Designer Series Paper (the polka dot paper added to the matchbook) offers charming patterns in a scale perfect for card making.
  • To create the matchbook (an idea from Stampin’ Success, my Stampin’ Up! demonstrator magazine), I cut Gumball Green card stock to 3 1/8″ x 8 5/8″.  Using a Stampin’ Up! Simply Scored Scoring Tool, I scored the short distance at 3 3/8″, 3 3/4″ and 7 3/4″.
  • I closed the matchbook with the ribbon.  However, you could staple the front, bottom flap it as an alternative.  You can fit a standard gift card in the pocket.  Please leave me a comment below with any other ideas to tuck in the matchbook!  Chocolates or tea, anyone?

  3. This is darling…I love the idea, and I am going to make Christmas stocking stuffers. Ghiradelli chocolates, individually wrapped, should tuck inside nicely, and I’ve seen some apple cider mixes that might work, too. Wouldn’t they make darling place cards at a Thanksgiving or holiday meal? Thanks so much for sharing!

  4. Giradelli (sp?) fits in there nicely – I made a bunch of these for Christmas a few years ago. I may have even stapled the edge of the chocolate package to it so they didn’t fall out. I made one with a little tea cup stamp on it and put the tea bag in there and put it on top of the box that held a pretty tea cup in it. I had a fancy bow on a package someone sent me that was sort of squashed and put that in the middle of the big bow and onto the box – repurposed and totally “Tea-riffic” recycling and tasty gift. I think I put some little sticky note pads in some one time too.

  6. Love the matchbook; I’m always looking for new ways to give gift cards dressed up! After reading everyone’s comments, I don’t have any other ideas than what’s been mentioned. I think the drink packet idea would be fun for a party and make the matchbooks in different colors to match the drink mixes!

  12. Adorable, Mary! This would also be cute to make a bit bigger and staple dry soup packets in there for a “get well”. Or staple in a few tea packets for a “thinking of you” to a special friend. Oh, the possibilities!!!! Thanks, as always, for the creative idea :o)

  21. This is darling Mary, thanks for the inspiration. I need to pick up a gift card for my dad for puppy sitting for me so I will have to wrap it up in a cute little cover like yours. I absolutely love the Christmas DSP. Is there a punch for the little mittens or did you hand cut them? Hummmm, I better go check the catalog. Happy Stampin’!

  23. What a cool new way to offer a gift card! The Martha Stewart in me loves to purchase a gift & wrap it up beautifully, but after last years returns I guess the Gift Cards are more “in” than Martha Stewart! 🙂
