Change Is Good: Stampin’ Up! Retiring Accessories List

Many of you are excited but a bit overwhelmed by the size of the STAMPIN’ UP! RETIRING ACCESSORIES LIST. WOWZA!  I put together a brief overview with details of what I have gathered from Stampin’ Up!  I’m hoping this will lessen the confusion.

Please keep in mind that the retiring products are ONLY AVAILABLE WHILE SUPPLIES LAST.  Many items are discounted!  That means items will sell out so PLEASE DON’T WAIT!

When you look at the retired accessories list, you’ll note that all of our Stampin’ Pads are listed. This is for two reasons: (1) Craft Stampin’ Pads will now only be available in black and white; and (2) we are introducing a new Firm Foam pad in our Classic Stampin’ Pads with the 2012-2013 annual catalog.

The Firm Foam pads offer better ink coverage and, in turn, better stamped images. They will be available for customer order on June 1.

In addition, please note the following changes in the new catalog, which explain some of the products appearing on the retired list:

  • Only select Stampin’ Write Markers will be available individually (Stampin’ Write Markers in color collections will continue to be offered)
  • 12″ x 12″ Textured Card Stock will no longer be offered.
  • 12″ x 12″ Smooth Card Stock will only be available in select individual colors and color collections.
  • Any item with an asterisk next to it is being reconfigured.  An example of this could be repackaging, as in the example above of the markers.
  • Craft Ink Pads (other than black or white per above) and Craft Refills will no longer be offered.
  • Classic Ink Refills (other than the retiring 2010-2012 In Colors) will still be available.
  • Stampin’ Spots are being discontinued.  Stampin’ Up! may possibly reconfigure & sell some of the Classic Ink Spots.
  • Other than the retiring 2010-2012 In Colors, the Stampin’ Up! colors are NOT retiring.

Two items that were included on the Retiring Accessories List are not actually retiring. The lists have been updated s to remove these items.

208 108360 Craft Scissors
208 103579 Paper Snips

A FINAL NOTE:  I have always been one to embrace change and am very optimistic that the new catalog will fulfill my stamping dreams of dishy new stamps, creative tools, yummy paper and splashy embellishments!

  1. THANK YOU!!! I had a mild panic attack when both Baja Breeze and CCelery were on the retired list!! I assumed that SU had a master plan, but all I could think was “NOT YET PLEASE!!”

  2. Hi Mary,

Your explanation was clear and easy to understand, but I have one more question. What about the Vanilla pad and refill? I know you said ONLY Black and White. Then the neutrals will only have 9 colors, unless they are going to add one in the new catalog. Do you know anything about that? Thanks,

  3. Thanks for the additional info on the retired lists. That was extremely helpful!

  4. Thanks Mary! I knew I could count you for a speedy and accurate response!

  5. Hi Sue G: I checked with Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator Support and updated my discussion above: Craft Ink Pads (other than black or white) and Craft Refills will no longer be offered.
Classic Ink Refills (other than the retiring 2010-2012 In Colors) will still be available.
Stampin’ Spots are being discontinued. Stampin’ Up! may possibly reconfigure & sell some of the Classic Ink Spots.

  6. Mary, I appreciate SO MUCH your positive attitude about all of the changes! I am feeling the same way about it all…wanting to stay positive! I am excited for the upcoming new catalog regardless of what we are saying goodbye to! 🙂 Thanks so much for staying upbeat and positive!

  7. Mary – what about the Classic Ink Spots? There are some on the discontinued list so I thought they were no longer going to carry the Classic ink in spots, but on the product Q&A page, it looks like there is not change. Do you know anything about them that I could share with my customers?

  8. Thanks for this great explanation of things. I only wish that I hadn’t started collecting the ink pads this year…

  9. In the past I have cringed by the retirement of certain products, but have learned that Stampin’ Up never leads us astray, ha ha, so I no longer panic when reviewing the retirement lists. I have to admit though that the paper snips had me wondering. Thanks for the explanation/

  10. Yes, thank you Mary for the key info! I was wondering about the craft ink pads and spots…they have been on my wish list for ages, so I’d better get them before they are gone! And I agree that the new catty is going to be fabulous!! 🙂

  11. I must admit that I was a little shocked when I saw the size of the retiring list, but definitely not overwhelmed. My thought was, “Wow, this new catalog is going to be amazing if it can replace all this!!” Love your picture, Mary! Too funny!!

  12. Thank you for your nice, concise and clear overview of what’s retiring and the reasons. Maybe you could forward to SU for it to be posted there, as well.

  13. Thank goodness, on the scissors! I love mine and have oodles of them for stamp camp. Love your picture of the typist, Mary! What a hoot!
