Simply Scored Bookmark “WOW” Video Tutorial

Stampin up bookmark demonstrator video tutorial card idea simply scored diagonal plateIt’s about time for a new 1 Minute to “WOW!” video tutorial from me, no?  I have been knee deep in remodeling at my home so there haven’t been too many quiet moments to do one.  However, I snuck in a little video time (between drills and hammers) to show you this simple bookmark I learned about in Stampin’ Success, one of my Stampin’ Up! demonstrator resources.

I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR!  Please let me know what you think of the bookmark (do you have a creative use to share?) with a comment at the end of this post!

STAMPIN’ PRETTY TIPS:

  • To create the bookmark, I started with a 4 x 4″ square piece of Cherry Cobbler card stock.  Using the Simply Scored Scoring Tool and Simply Scored Diagonal Plate, I scored the square from the center (2″) to the sides.  The scores are folded back to create a point and pocket.

  • I cut a 2 1/2″ square of Basic Black Card Stock.  It was cut in half (corner to corner) to create two triangles.   I used one of the Basic Black triangles to adhere to and secure the back of the Cherry Cobbler folded pocket.
  • Stampin’ Up! First Edition Specialty Designer Series Paper was cut to  3 3/4″ square.   I scored it using the Simply Scored Scoring Tool and Diagonal Plate from the center (1 7/8″) to the edges. I cut off the “flaps” at the score lines–resulting in a perfect layer for the front of the bookmark.
  • I used a Brayer and Crumb Cake Ink on the inside front of the Stripes Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  This enhances the pattern of the Crumb Cake card stock when everything is run through a Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine.  DON’T MISS:  The Stripes Embossing Folder can be yours FREE with a product order of $50 or more during the Stampin’ Up! Sale-A-Bration Promotion.

  2. In my very first Workshop as a demo in January, we made bookmarks shaped like yours. Yours looks less complicated. What a Hit! I also recently made a bookmark and used it as part of a card as you did. When I showed a OWH group I am working with, THEY inspired the bookmark/card combo. Luv your stuff!

  3. Love it! Thanks for showing us how! I had seen them before on blogs and they just say they are so easy to make but you really did show us how! Love the colors and the New Edition paper talks about cherry trees – how appropriate for cherry cobbler paper! But, I really liked the way you added it to the card! Great job as always. Boy, this Christmas we could give books to people and make the bookmarks all Christmasy as well or it would be cute for a birthday too.

  5. One more thing, I had made my bookmark to compliment the card but I had it on the outside of the envelope since it wasn’t being mailed. Which was more appropriate for the situation plus my card wasn’t designed to have the bookmark placed on it.

Just another idea as to where you can place the bookmark if giving the card in person along with a gift. The card itself with the bookmark is a gift in itself though! 🙂

  6. Yikes! Where were you with this video last Friday! We made a bookmark in my Stampin’ Brunch Bunch and I had the ladies put a pencil mark on at the top and on the two sides! This is major easier! I love this bookmark that you’ve made and the idea to put on as the corner of a card. Thanks you for blessing my day and inspiring my art. 🙂

  7. I absolutely LOVE your bookmark! I just made one similar to this over the weekend from a video posted on Stampin’ Connection. But I LOVE the construction which is much simpler and less bulky. And I LOVE the look so much better as well. You have yours turned around with the larger area facing towards you which gives more space to be decorated. 🙂 Love it, love it, love it! Looking forward to making some more using your instructions!!

  13. Mary, love how you made the bookmark part of a card…what a wonderful gift to send in the mail! I am not crazy about giving gift cards (would rather pick something out), but maybe this changes that, haha…would accompany a book store gift card with a really nice personal touch. Thanks for sharing! 🙂
