PPA77 Bee-cause I Care

Stampin up nature walk sympathy card pals paper arts My husband's Grandmother Rosie recently passed away, just a couple weeks short of her 102nd birthday.  At 101+ years, I don't think any of us can argue that she didn't live a full life.  Her wit, strength and flair for telling a story will be missed but forever locked in our hearts.

Today's card is a sympathy card for her son (my father-in-law).  It holds special stories about Rosie.  I'm sure he will treasure it.  I think I'm one of the few that really enjoys creating masculine cards. Click and scroll for more masculine card samples.

    2. Stamping with a fellow stamper this weekend we were working hard on masculine cards, and struggling. Our ribbon idea is a straight ribbon across the card with a knot of linen thread, or twine in it. Really wishing stamping up would combine a masculine set with a birthday sentiment. Awesome card – you never disappoint!

    4. It’s so difficult when someone we cherish passes away, no matter what the age. I’m sure your Father-in-Law will appreciate this lovely and thoughtfully made card.

I make lots of masculine cards for relatives and co-workers, and my struggle at times is to add just a little something to make sure they’re not too plain. I have taken many great ideas from you, Mary, which I appreciate! Nature scenes are always a good fall back, LOL!!

    6. Mary, my condolences to your family and may God Bless you all. I also struggle with masculine cards; there just doesn’t seem to be a lot of products available. However, this card is absolutely smashing! I didn’t think I would order this set as I couldn’t decide what I could make with it. You’ve changed my mind once again. I love your designs….TFS !

I sometimes struggle with masculine and he’s very much a man’s man 🙂 I usually do flat, clean lined, no embellishment cards for the males in our family… they usually pass the judge’s test 🙂

    9. Actually I have no problem with masculine cards, esp. when they are made for my DH, DS, SIL and grandsons 🙂 I think if you choose the right colors and start with coordinating DP it is easy from there.
What a wonderful long life and great lady your grandmother-in-law had. Your FIL will LOVE his very special card made with so much love. TFS

    12. I really struggle with masculine cards and really with sympathy cards to the point I just don’t make them. Men’s cards I seem to leave until the last minute. Although, for once I have already made my husbands Bday card and it’s not for another month.

I love your work! Great quality!

    21. This is one gorgeous card. I’ve always loved the navy and yellow combination. It works so well for a masculine card. And, the brads – perfect accent instead of ribbon for a guy.
Enjoyed our short visit (standing in line for the restroom at Leadership). ha! You’re such a classy lady and I love stopping by your blog to see your classy card style.

    23. Mary: Thinking of you and your husband during this time of loss. I’m sure your husband has many fond memories of his grandmother and can know that she has gone to join the family that left this earth before her. SUPER HUGS to both you and your husband.

    24. The trouble with masculine cards is we are so used to adorning our cards–and it always feels awkward doing a ribbon on a man-card. This card is so pretty for anyone. I love it. Does anyone keep a record of what card they sent to who? I always worry I’ll be sending the same card to a guy that I sent last year and he thinks I’m a one hit wonder.

    25. I also struggle with masculine cards, though I do have the motorcycle stamp that I often use for masculine cards and I also use the tree set a lot. More ideas would be very helpful. Love this card!!

    26. Hello Mary: I also have a bit of trouble with masculine cards. I want to make them beautiful and, at the same time, not to cute or to adorned. All of your masculine cards are fabulous and this one, is absolutely stunning.
I love the simplicity and elegance of it and the fact that, by changing the sentiment, you can also have a fantastic birthday card. We are so lucky you are so talented. Thank you for sharing.
      Maria.
PS. I’m so sorry for the loss of your husband’s grandma.

    27. I also stuggle with masculine cards. I personally would not use a yellow or anything with a flower for a masculine card but yours sure work! I really need to step outside my norm and try other things. Thanks for the great sample!
