What's a luminaria? It's pronounced loo-muh-nair-ee-uh or loo-mee-nah-ryah (Spanish) and refers to a small light or lantern. It's right at home in the Christmas tradition of a number of cultures and has gone very mainstream. Learn more.
Today's 1 Minute to "WOW" Video Tutorial shows you how to create your own luminaria in a minute or two using the Stampin' Up! Snowflake Punch (119852). It looks very spiffy above with just a battery operated tea light. However, you can always personalize it with ribbon, buttons and stamps!
STAMPIN' PRETTY TIP: As an alternative, try making a luminaria with the Stampin' Up! Star (119875) or Full Heart (119883) Punches.
Are you ready to give this luminaria a "glowing" review? Let me know what you think with a comment at the end of this post! Thanks.

Thank you for this fabulous video and this great project! I’m so glad I found it. I made a few sets of these to give to friends for Christmas.
So gorgeous Mary!!! Hugs,
Oh thank you for making this so simple! I wanted to show my club girls how to make a luminaria after seeing the Stampin’ Success this month. I still need to forward you the picture of us from Convention. I met you at the Display Boards in the back.
WOW! Thanks for sharing! I love the idea for the luminaria—and agree with Maria-the matching placecards are perfect idea/use for the leftover snowflakes-that and sprinkle them around the tabletop!;) Blessings, Sharon
These are such a wonderful idea, Mary! I can’t wait to make some for the holidays!
Love it! I love, love, love your videos! Thank you for sharing!
Mary,
These are adorable, especially functional and so versatile. I am thinking of the many possibilities. God bless you for sharing, I love these!
Wow, Mary! Another great simple and great idea! These luminarias would be a perfect gift to give to the neighbors at Christmas time. Thanks for great video tutorial!
The crazy thing about this post of yours is that I am having a class to make the same thing. Very cool!!! And actually, I have a question about your mini card box, but I will email you about that. Thanks Mary, I really enjoy your blog, one of my favs!!!
Another duh moment! These were so easy to make! It took me longer to walk the two blocks to the store and buy the battery operated candles than it did to make three of these! Now, why didn’t I think of that before? I made mine in different colors so I had different snowflakes to make the card. What a quick and easy present to have on hand in a basket for people dropping by as well as my swap group! I think I like the little cards as much, if not more, than the luminarias! Thanks again!
Mary, I just love this! It is giving me so many ideas – thank you!
Oh Wow! Those are so wonderful! I am going to have to make some! What a great idea! Hugs, J
love it….simple but useful…like the use of the punched flakes on the card
Fabulous, Mary!
Mary, You rock as usual. I can’t believe the great ideas you come up with. You are truly a gifted lady. What a wonderful way to highlight a dinner table using a luminaria on each place setting with a battery operated candle so everyone can take one home as a gift. I can’t wait to try this one. Thanks for sharing. ((Hugs)), Becky
I love it. I made one using the Fancy Favor Box. I love this size you made and the larger one as well. I can even see making one that is in between both sizes to have 3…thank you for the inspiration!

Oh Mary, you always simplify projects so they seem so doable. I made luminarias for Halloween and if I had a video of that process, I am sure I would win on American’s funniest videos. Thank you for making it so simple!
Your snowflake Luminaria and card are BEAUTIFUL!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Hugs and smiles
The video was perfect and showcased a neat way to light up the season. Thank you for the dimensions too. So informative.
Thank you for sharing Mary, something so simple but very effective. And I love that we can use the extra cutouts to use on other projects.
Thank you for another great idea and tutorial Mary. Personally, I am very grateful that your WOW videos are longer than one minute! You pack so much into your videos. I will use both of the ideas on this video in many different ways.
Nancy
lovely!
Thank you for a great tutorial Mary. I can see the possibilities for using different punches for different occasions. I also love the little note card.
Hello Mary: I love this project. This is a simple and easy way to make something so very pretty. Those little battery opperated tea lights really give a nice glow, very safe, specially when you have a house full of grandkids. This luminarias can be made in any color and, like you said, using any punch, to fit whatever occassion. How beautiful they would look on your Holiday Table. Thank you for sharing this idea with us and just in time for the Holiday Season.
Maria.
PS. I think the leftover punched images can also be used as place cards on your table!!
