Four the Holidays

STAMPIN' PRETTY TIPS:

  • My simple layout today lets the patterned Merry Moments Designer Series Paper steal the show.
  • Scoring your card at the top makes tying your bow around the center easy and a pretty touch for the interior.
  • Stampin up playground designer buttons "Thread" your buttons.  These snazzy Real Red buttons from Stampin' Up!'s Playground Designer Buttons, get dressed up with a skinny strip of Garden Green card stock threaded and tied.
  • Stampin' Dimensionals make this crisp sentiment really pop.  No second layer required 🙂
  • For added polish (and if you have the time), add designer paper to the envelope flap.  Simply adhere patterned paper to the flap, flip over and cut away the excess.
  • Card Base:  4 1/4" x 5.5" (scored on top), Merry Moments 4 1/4" x 2 1/2" layered over Real Red 4 1/2" x 2 3/4".

  1. What a simple yet elegant card. I think the buttons are a great addition to the card. What did you tie the buttons with?

Hi Jeni: Thank you for your sweet sentiment. The buttons are “tied” with a skinny piece of coordinating card stock. Hugs, Mary

  2. I’m with Stephanie – I have got to practice and learn how to tie a bow. Yours are perfect and snappy! Is this the same as the stay put bow? Love the card!

    Hi Linda:

It’s different that the Stay Put Bow, which I use for 1/4″ Grosgrain ribbon . . . you actually thread it through a hole so that it “stays put.” For the ribbon in this post, the only trick (I know of) is to hold the right side firm and only pull on the left when you are tightening the knot. Works for me!

    Hugs, M

  6. Mary, I still can’t tie a bow like this! Love it (as usual). Your “pal” Stephanie D.

    Hi Steph:

I’m right handed. Before pulling the bow tight, I hold the right side steady (the key) and then pull on the left. Works like a charm 🙂 Hugs, M

  7. Tying your ribbon like this also gives you a great place to slide that family photo so it doesn’t slide out when your recipent opens their beautiful card! I love this card and will be making a few of them. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Christine: The photo is a fantastic idea that hadn’t occurred to me. Thanks for sharing. Hugs, M
