For today's new Pals Paper Arts Challenge (PPA4), I could make "Anything But a Card." Check out this week's challenge and play along! Did you see the Paper Artist Picks yesterday? Wow! Congrats to Blair, Lisa and Mariana!
My Stampin' Up! Pretties Kit wanted "in" on the action today and got to shine in three different 3-D projects. The Pretties Kit contains fabric flowers (that can be dyed), round and halfback pearls,in white and cream, crystal beads and clear rhinestone brads . . . even hat pins. It was fun to experiment with so many of my little darlings.
TIP: The tension on die cutting machines varies. I get perfect cuts and score lines (no cut through) when I use the Extended Premium Crease Pad with the Matchbox Die and my Big Shot.
Stamp Set: Things I Love (115229)
Paper: Night and Day Specialty Paper (116768, available September 1), Melon Mambo Textured Card Stock (115539, Assorted In Colors), Whisper White (100730)
Ink: Melon Mambo (115656)
Cool Tools: Big Shot Die Cut Machine (113439), Bigz XL Matchbox Die (114890), Extended Premium Crease Pad (117630), Boho Blossoms Punch (110711), Large Oval Punch (107305), Scallop Oval Punch (114889), Crop-A-Dile (108362)
The Perfect Touch: Silver Eyelet (105319, Metallic Eyelets), Melon Mambo Polka Dot Ribbon (115611), Clear Rhinestone Brads (109114, Pretties Kit)
The bead crystals and pearls in these earrings are products of the
Pretties Kit, too. I purchased a few inexpensive earring accessories at Michael's. My
daughter was my mentor and assistant in putting them together. She's become a
jewelry maven and is working on a blog. My sweet chip off the old block. I'm so proud.
The Perfect Touch: Pretties Kit (109114)
Other: Earring wires, jump ring, head pins and decorative spacers
I think this pillow box has a wonderful "purse-o-nality!" What a charmer for a bridal shower, Sweet Sixteen or special girly-girl event. That's a whopping halfback pearl from the Pretties Kit in the middle!
TIP #1: The dress is simply a Scallop Circle with the sides whittled down. It was textured before being cropped.
TIP #2: The handle (shaped by the Bigz Top Note Die and Small Oval Punch) and dress were both textured using a Big Shot and the Stampin' Up! Finial Press Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. This pattern and rich texture make my heart go pitter pat.
Paper: Night and Day Specialty Paper (116768, available September 1), Melon Mambo (115320)

I love this little set! Love the colors and the papers, too! So very fun!
Whoa! Great stuff! It makes me want to get get dolled up for something fun! 🙂
Love what you did with the halloween paper!
Ah, I see the color changed on top of your awning to pink today, how appropriate. I can’t begin to tell you how much I love that ensemble, so I’ll shut up, but I love it, love it, love it. When will we see “Sweet Caroline’s Place”? I bet she does take after you, aren’t you proud? I need instructions on the little chest of drawers, what die cut do we need to make it? Thank you so much for showing that. I bet Stampin Up gets a run on that paper after this.
These colors remind me of a houndstooth jacket I used to have and, I always wore it with a hot pink turtleneck. I always loved that look. All you ladies did a fabulous job with this challenge. I especially like the chests of drawers that I saw on several of the projects.
I love how girly this is! So full of great ideas. Love everything about it- especially the Pink and Black.
OH I have to agree with everyone’s comments These are all just divine!! Pretties are always good but those papers are just…. a have to have!
Ohhh…Mary! (Imagine this spoken by Georgette to Mary Richards of The Mary Tyler Moore show…lol) Seriously, TOO fantastic! And what fun earrings! Please make sure to post your daughter’s blog when she gets up and running; I’d love to see it! ~Hugs, BetsyZ
Ohmygosh! You’re kidding me, right? This set is dabomb! Love the colors, (chimed right in on the post title), and THAT PURSE! SHUT UP!
BEAUTIFULLY STUNNING!!! You amaze me ! 🙂
O-M-G! Those are absolutely adorable! I love it! The colors are killer together! I am so blown away!
And yes, the song is now stuck in my head for the day! That is no good!
You are the master of detail – don’t think I didn’t notice how the embossing pattern on the dress fell perfectly! 🙂 Perfect colors and design – love it!
These are absolutely….GLORIOUS!! Love them! Thanks for starting my day in a PRETTY mood!!

P.S…I look forward to meeting you at Founder’s Circle!!
WOW! I have been following you for a while since Kendra Richardson mentioned you would at some point join us Southwest stampers for our demo meetings! This post prompted me to comment. This is adorable! I love the colors and the more I see this pack of DSP I HAVE to put it on my order this weekend!
Thank you for sharing your creativity and inspiration with us.
Hi Mary,
WOW! Today’s post it one of the most awesome paper craft projects I’ve ever seen! I LOVE your color combos too. Very beautiful. I especially LOVE the purse. VERY Clever of you. I’m wondering what the back looks like though. How did you get the Top Note die attached to look like it belongs there? Is the Top Note on the pillow box in portrait or landscape position?
Sorry for so many questions. I LOVE THIS! My little girl is turning 14 in 2 weeks, and I just know she will really enjoy this. Thank you so much for sharing.
Blessings,
Robyn Correa

Hi Robyn: Thanks so much for your kind remarks.
I’ll be uploading a follow-up post and photo of the back shortly. The handle was cut with the Top Note Die. It’s 3.5″ wide (the short length of the Top Note). I folded it in half and cut off the excess, leaving one and 1 7/8″ from where I cut to the top peak of the handle. I scored the base of the handle at 1/2″ the long way so that the handle would be flexible on the back curve of the pillow box and sit straight up and down. I have also seen examples where the Top Note is tucked inside so there is no flap on the back. I don’t have the engineering on that but it’s probably a simply modification. Hugs, Mary
I am SO totally in love with this set! First of all, the new black and white are sooo gorgeous! I have only used them twice, but I am already totally smitten with them.
Love the pop of pink against the B&W and your use of the Pretties kit! Those earrings are totally fab! And what a great use of the box dies…
You rock!
