Guest Stamper: Karren Reda

SDC11306-1

Aren't Bermuda Bay and Crushed Curry a striking mix?  Karren Reda is today's guest stamper.  Karren began as one of my Stampin' Up! customers and has evolved into a dear, virtual buddy.  We chat about everything from stamping to books to wine (mostly Karren on the wine–hah)!

She has an artistic flair for color and detail.  For example, note the charm of the hole punch on the tiny scallops of the pedestal.  The On a Pedestal stamp set (images below) was released in July in the Stampin' Up! 2009-2010 Idea Book and Catalog.

Karren's Tall Cake Recipe:

  • The card base is Crushed Curry.
  • Bermuda Bay card stock was cut to 2 1/4" x 5 1/4" and topped with a 2" x 5" panel from Thoroughly Modern Designer Series Paper.
  • A length of Crushed Curry 1/2" Polka Dot Grosgrain Ribbon was tied around this element and a bow was attached.
  • The cake stand was stamped on the back of a scrap of Bermuda Bay Textured card stock and cut out.  Karren flipped it over and punched out the holes.
  • The sentiment was inked in Sahara Sand and stamped on Whisper White.
  • Above the sentiment is a rectangle cut from Thoroughly Modern Designer Series Paper.
  • The top cake image is again Sahara Sand on Whisper White.
  • Three sweet yellow brads (not Stampin' Up!) are a delightful accent.
  • Using Sizzix Buttons #5 Die, she created the button pieces in Crushed Curry and Bermuda Bay.  Whisper White is "threaded" through.

  1. What a wonderful suprise when I opened my emails this morning and found a card from my ole’ friend. Fantastic card, Karren. Your creatiions are ALWAYS beautiful and this one is no exception. Mary, as I have told you before, Karren has been a truly wonderful friend for 44+ years and I am thrilled that I introduced her into the Stampin’ Up! world … but she has totally surpassed me in her creativity. Like Peggy said earlier, you really must come to VA so that we all can meet you. I know you are enjoying convention and look forward to more beautiful designs from you when you get back. Have a good one. Trisha
