Scallop Envelope Box Tutorial

Stampin up herb expressions scallop envelope die box
My virtual friend, Sandy, directed me to this adorable box on Jane Matsumoto's blog (Whoopsie Daisy!).  I love how you can make a generous sized box for candy in minutes using the Scallop Envelope Bigz Die.  Finished, it's 3 1/4" square x 2 1/4" high, excluding the scallop flaps.  Fifteen bagged Hershey's Nuggets nest neatly inside.

Basic Black card stock traveled through my Big Shot Die-Cut Machine with the Scallop Envelope Bigz Die four times.

SDC11264

Adhere the tabs with a strong adhesive (Sticky Strip is a good option)

SDC11265

Here's a shot of the adhered tabs from the outside.

Flatten the box and adhere a 2 3/16" x 12 piece of Designer Series Paper.  I selected a pattern from Stampin' Up!'s Pink Flamingo.  The 12" length does not cover all the sides.  TIP:  Start the Designer Paper about 1 1/4" on one side and wrap around, creasing  the designer paper on the corners as you go.  I started farther toward the edge than 1 1/4"–but it still worked out fine.

The 12" will terminate on the same side where you started but will be short.  You simply need to cover it up with an image or sentiment as I have done.

SDC11271

Layer the base flaps one over the other and tuck in the last flap. TIP:   It should hold together on it's own but you can add adhesive for a little reassurance.

Here's the assembled box.  TIP:   I used adhesive to lay the interior flaps flat.

A sentiment from Herb Expressions was inked in Jet Black Stazon and stamped on Whisper White.  It's matted on Real Red and Basic Black card stock.

DBWS_dealofweek_heartpunch Next, I stamped the fun triple hearts (Jet Black Stazon) from Stampin' Up!'s Love You Much stamp set and popped them out with the Heart to Heart Punch.

TIP:  The Heart to Heart Punch is over 30% off as part of the Deal of the Week.  Click here for Deal of the Week details.  You can create adorable heart elements in a flash, even heart "confetti" for spreading around an anniversary or valentine table setting.  Very chic!

I dolled up my Hershey's Nuggets (yummy heath) by tossing them in a Large Cello Bag and wrapping them up with Basic Black 5/8" Grosgrain Ribbon (NEW).

I can finally use my scallop envy die that has been sitting in the drawer for awhile now. 🙂 Perfect timing too as I have a baby shower on Saturday and wanted something quick to put together so your post was perfect!
