Punchy Pug

Stampin up absolutely fabulous pug

It's her 10th birthday today.  Even though she's a "senior" girl, our pug, Isabel, is "absolutely fabulous."  She's never missed a family meal, has consumed a dozen brownies in one sitting (not a good day) and never ceases to warm our hearts with her squishy face.

I was kicking the idea around of using exclusively punches for her face . . . but the ears weren't quite right.  My friend, Ann-Marie (an engineer by trade), took one look and immediately knew the remedy was to fold the small oval ears.  Brilliant!

  • Isabel's eyes consist of 1/4" (Chocolate Chip) and 1/2" Circles (Soft Suede, available July 1).
  • Her Soft Suede nose is an upside down heart created from the Heart to Heart Punch and her tongue (which is the longest ever on record, according to my husband) is a Ruby Red Horizontal Slot Punch.
  • The Kraft face was fashioned with a 1 3/4" Circle Punch and the ears (also Kraft) are produced with the Small Oval Punch (then folded as Ann-Marie suggested).
  • Her Ruby Red collar was created using the 1 3/4" Circle Punch twice.  TIP:  For extra doggie dazzle, I added Silver Brads to glam up the collar.
  • Her face was adhered to Chocolate Chip card stock and I used Stampin' Dimensionals to mat a piece of Soft Suede behind.
  • Using a Paper Piercer and Template, I created a tidy little border to tuck my Ruby Red Trio Flowers into.  TIP:  To mirror the collar, I added Silver Brads to the flower centers.
  • The card base measures 4 1/4" x 5 1/2", scored on the side.  It's topped with Sweet Slumber Stampin up absolutely fabulous heart to heart Specialty Designer Series Paper.  TIP:  Sweet Slumber is on the Last Chance Accessories List & Sale.
  • Using a Stamp-a-ma-jig, I positioned the "absolutely fabulous" sentiment (in Chocolate Chip) directly on the designer paper.
  • TIP:  The Absolutely Fabulous stamp set (sentiment on the outside and it's companion on the inside) are on the Stampin' Up! Last Chance Stamp List (available alphabetically and by page number on my top right side bar).

  2. I can’t think of one superlative that hasn’t already been posted. Now, smartypants, can you do one for a German Shepherd/beagle mix? It’s not even possible to imagine. Isabel should be duly honored by this amazing effort.

  11. Aww, so sweet! Happy Birthday Isabel.

And now I suppose I must admit that it took Isabel’s birthday to bring me out of blog lurkdom. *smile* (I’m owned by 2 canines, and, so, have quite a soft spot in my heart for any doggie.)

Always enjoy and appreciate your wonderfully creative ideas and Stampin’ Up info!
