What a blessing she must be to the whole family. I hope someone is recording her stories for posterity. Now having a keen interest in genealogy, I wish I’d recorded my grandparents while I had the chance.

This lady sounds like what we call here in the South a “steel magnolia”. That is, a strong woman. Mary, I’m glad you got the day off. You deserve it. As for New York, before I saw where you lived, I thought that you must be in Manhattan because you look so sophisticated and cosmopolitan. But then, there are some people like that everywhere. I have a cousin in Brooklyn. You should hear our conversations. Accents!
