Rockabilly Daisy Vase

Stampin up rockabilly bigz daisies flower #2

Want to make the easiest vase ever?  Well, grab a Wide Oval Punch and a little Rockabilly Specialty Designer Series Paper.  Punch, snip off the top, flip and add the small piece to the bottom.  This was a big"aha" moment for me!  TIP:  Try the Large Oval Punch the same way for a single stem vase!

Stampin up rockabilly daisies bigz die I stamped the stem from Fifth Avenue Floral three times on a pretty Kiwi Kiss houndstooth pattern from Urban Oasis Designer Series Paper.  My new vase was layered on top with Stampin' Dimensionals.  The Riding Hood Red flowers were created using a Big Shot and the Bigz Daisies #2 Flower Die.  Aren't they sweet?  The centers are 1/2" circles of Basic Black.

I matted the gingham layer on Basic Black and a Bouquet Designer Button seemed like the perfect touch for the bottom left.  TIP:  A sliver of Basic Black card stock gives a polished  "threaded" look and a Mini Glue Dot keeps the button locked in place.

The sentiment is from the new Oval All stamp set from the Stampin' Up! Occasions Mini Catalog.  I stamped it on Riding Hood Red and Whisper White card stock.  The red version was cropped with a Small Oval Punch and the White with a Large Oval Punch.  TIP:  A Stampin' Dimensional under just the right side of the sentiment keeps it propped up and level with the vase.

SC224 The horizontal panel features two 1" tall strips of Rockabilly Specialty Designer Series Paper over Basic Black card stock.  The inspiration for my layout comes from today's Splitcoast Sketch Challenge SC224.  All Splitcoast Daily Challenges (and more) are linked on my left side bar (just scroll down a bit).

  2. Hi Mary, I have been following your blog for a while now and I must tell you that I just absolutely LOVE the things you do! I’ll cruise the galleries on SCS and I will see a card that really strikes me and then lo-and-behold, it’s a Mary Fish card. This was one of those cards. I just love your style and use of color and everything else. Thank you so much for sharing your creations with us! You are simply amazing!

  3. What a terrific way to make a vase! I think it would look good in the opposite (180?) orientation as well, but that’s probably the potter in me coming out!

  4. WoW! Rockin’ Idea Mary!

Gorgeous and Amazing. Love the color pop and of course the Daisy #2 die. It’s been my fav for a bit now. Thanks for showing me something new to do with it. Don’t have the Wide Oval Punch yet though so will have to get out my Coluzzle in order to CASE!

    Hugs and blessings – Jean

PS: The Houndstooth pattern in Kiwi fooled me. I thought you must have used a contraband or retired SU stamp to get that pattern. Then I read your supplies list and went back to my paper sampler and Voila there was the Houndstooth already to go in the dsp. I guess I avoided looking too closely at it before because as a Weaver, Houndstooth patterns are one of my least favorites to weave! Amazing how prejudices from one craft can bleed over into another! 😀

  10. Mary, that layered sentiment looks so good I thought it was actually a white HPH frame instead of just WW paper. Mr. Brown brings my box with the oval stamps and scallop punch this morning…you can guess what I’ll be doing all day LOL!

  13. I am running, not walking to my craft room to try these out. I’m so glad I have that die, but I’ll have to subsitute the Urban Oasis paper. Wow! That is a knock out. How do you do it?
