Sip by Sip

Stampin up sip by sip

Thank you for sharing "What Inspires You?" on yesterday's post.   I had a wonderful time reading your comments and learning what makes stampers "tick" in the process.   A special thanks to Colleen.  I'll be sure to check out paper towel designs in the future.

SDC10211-1
Continuing in catalog inspiration mode, I decided to borrow the colors from this fun little chair and pull out the Sip by Sip stamp set (I adore the retro mugs). It was a little tricky masking off the mugs (tape and sticky notes) in order to isolate each mug from a three mug stamp.  TIP:   It probably would have been easier to use markers and color one at a time.  Live and learn.

The ink colors and matching card stock used were in Perfect Plum, Taken with Teal and More Mustard.  TIP:
I doodled around each square with Stampin' Up!'s Markers for a sweet
and simple border.  This also satisfied the Our Creative Corner Challenge this week to doodle.

TECC58

The neat thing about this layout from Taylored Expressions (TECC58) is that it adapts to so many
stamps.  The key to turning it into a quick and easy card is using a 1 1/4"
and 1 3/8" Square Punch.

I was determined to use the "chocolate, coffee, men" sentiment and include the mug stamp.  TIP:  However, I
you don't feel ambitious enough to do the masking, find a set with coordinating individual
stamps that would fit within the 1 1/4" square, for example, Darling Dots (Hostess Level 1).

The Sip by Sip sentiment was inked in Perfect Plum and stamped on Whisper White.  I cropped it with a Large Oval Punch and adhered to a Scalloped Oval in Perfect Plum Textured card stock.  TIP:  The Scallop Oval  Punch will be available in the Occasion Mini on April 1.

Two Taken with Teal Textured hearts (Heart to Heart Punch) were layered over a Textured piece of More Mustard.  A little paper piercing seemed like just the right balance.

  1. Hi Mary,

You’ve fed my inchie craving for another week with this one. Do I dare mention that an even easier way to isolate the stamps is to cut up the stamp image into separate and individual bits that can then be used together or not? I’m afraid I’m guilty of commiting unlicensed surgery on my rubber darlings and even the blocks themselves from time to time (I try really hard not to imagine them screaming since I don’t use anesthetic – lol). Makes them so much more versatile. Though the smaller size does put them in more danger of becoming cat toys if my fur faces are in the neighborhood.

Hugs and blessings and thanks for sharing another great card! – Jean

    Hi Jean:

The problem with my cat is I will go to take a picture and see one of his little hairs lodged in the adhesive . . . for example, sticking out between layers. I hope none of the recipients are allergic!

I really should consider cutting more stamps apart. Grand idea!

    Hugs, M

  2. I love this card and the colors are fabulous….I suppose I need to get some decor magazines/catalogs so I can get some inspiration from someone other than you. Thanks for sharing!

  3. LOVE IT !! The design, the interaction of the colors you chose – so much fun!

Finding inspiration in current fashion and decorating catalogues is a great idea. I never would have chosen that color combo on my own, but I would have been drawn to the photo of the chair. I’m going to pay more attention to transferring what I like in catalogues to my paper crafting. It is also a great way to keep cards fresh and current.

  4. Mary,

I really like this card. I wasn’t sure I liked this stamp set, but you’ve convinced me now that I do. The color comb is lovely, and so unexpected. I kindof liked the retro mugs and electric perculator,( my mom had one just like it) but never really knew how I would incorporate these images into a project.
Thanks for the great ideas! This set is going on my next order.

    Hugs,
    Heidi
