  2. I love your blog, Mary. I visit every few days for inspiration and ideas. My favorite sign of spring is seeing the start of daffodils I transplanted from my grandmother’s farm years ago. I know spring is on the way and I always think of her.

  3. Hi Sweet Mary,

My first post never made it onto the board so I’m guessing it got lost in the cracks of cyber space.

    Congratulations on another wonderful milestone.

Favorite sign of spring…hmmmm…I guess that would have to be the first green tips of the bulbs pushing their way up through the earth or snow. A reaffirmation that life continues and is renewed once again.

So many others but thats usually the first and best one for me.

  5. I love Spring!! This year our first sign of Spring was hearing robins chirping in the morning – it didn’t really look like Spring, although the sun was shining, but at least it sounded like Spring and we knew it wouldn’t be far. We had little Fall this year and lots of winter, so at least the hint that Spring was coming was a welcome sound. Linda

  49. Hey Mary! My favorite sign of Spring is seeing Snow Crocuses. I grew up thinking they were a really pretty weed because of the way they were kind of scattered around in my great-grandparents’ yard. Turns out my great-grandfather didn’t want my great-grandmother to plant lots of flowers because he thought they’d look messy in his yard. My great-grandmother was pretty headstrong so her solution was to walk around with the seeds/corms in her apron and “drop” them, lol. I see a crocus anywhere and it instantly brings a smile to my face. The tricky thing with a crocus is that they can bloom pretty early on, so I try not to get too excited. Once the daffodils hit, I know we’re close, lol.

    Congrats on the newest milestone!

Well, the first sign of spring is a fooler – I have already seen a robin, seen some crocus and/or tulips poking up out of the ground so I am not sure what to say. In the spring, when I was little, I loved to see pussy willow branches. They are harder and harder to find now (I think). But, we are to have more snow this weekend and it is still pretty darn chilly so I think I will have to say the pussy willows since, like I said, I have seen the others already. 105. Thank you Mary for all your hard work and dedication. It’s been a long winter here in Seattle. Now the days are getting longer and the light peeks through my windows earlier. The birds begin singing outside and the blossoms on all the trees begin popping out. Soon I’ll be opening my windows and the breeze will blow through my house. I love Spring and the renewal of nature.

My favorite spring indicator is that I start receiving invitations to SU workshops. Winters are very difficult here in Maine and once I get that first invitation I know hibernation is over and yes, we can once again drive on the roads in relative safety. On the other hand, it also means it’s time for mud season. Yes we have three seasons here in Maine – Winter, Mud and Black Fly. LOL Love your blog.

I also love it when the deciduous trees first start budding and they have a very subtle hint of the same color they had in the fall. It’s so cool.

My favourite first sign of spring is the sweet smell of grass when it starts to turn green. Unfortunately living in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, we won’t see spring for at least another month, maybe two. Last year we got a blizzard in mid April! Yikes! But for us, when spring actually does come, it’s extra special. 🙂
