Best Wishes in Bloom

Stampin up big shot sizzlits birds and blooms

I let punches and die cuts do most of the work on today's card.  The results are quick, clean and pretty.

Using this week's Splitcoast Color Challenge 206 (Rose Red, More Mustard, Kiwi Kiss) to guide me, I popped out colorful rose and mustard flower centers with my 1" Circle Punch.  They were adhered with Stampin' Dimensionals on Whisper White flower die cuts (Sizzlits Birds and Blooms).  The white flowers really stand out against the Kiwi Kiss card stock background.

The More Mustard horizontal panel gets a blast of contrast from Rose Red 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon.  The sentiment is from Bella Blossoms (a dormant but available Stampin' Up! stamp set).  TIP:  I am a big fan of Jet Black Stazon for crisp sentiments (despite it's funky smell).  "Best wishes" was stamped on Whisper White, cropped with a Large Oval Punch and layered over a Wide Oval Punch in Kiwi Kiss.

I flipped a Clean&Simple sketch (FTL30) for today's layout.  The card base is 4.25 x 5.5 in Whisper White.  The bottom corners are shaped up with a Corner Rounder Punch.

My final touch is three sweet Rose Red Brads from the Rich Regals Brads assortment.  TIP:  I used a Paper Piercer and Template to create evenly spaced and aligned  holes before adding the brads.

Be sure to enter your comment and chance to win my blog candy giveaway.  I'll announce the two winners on Sunday, Feb. 22 between 6:00 and 7:00 CST!

  2. I DO LIKE THE SIMPLE, CRISP, BOLD COLOR CARDS. I DO ALOT OF JUST PUNCHED OUT SHAPES FOR CARDS. I ALSO LIKE TO KEEP SENTIMENTS SHORT AND SWEET.

  3. I am constantly amazed at your color combinations. Thanks again for showing us what can be done with SU! color combos.

  4. I absolutely love how you explore different color combinations.
I need to get into the groove of making more simple cards so I can play and not just admire.
    Thanks for your inspiration!

  5. I, too, love the Staz On for crisper lines. This card makes me feel warm, like Spring!

  6. My favorites, Big Shot and punches, but I never think to let them do all the work on a card! TFS

  7. You have a way… This is adorable and cheerful. I was thinking that I could make something similar and leave the greeting blank until I need a quick card. Then just add a greeting that fits the occasions and I am good to go!

  8. funky smell? i LOVE the way it smells..almond extract all the way!! love the card…good job on the color challenge!!

  9. Oh, Mary! You are such and inspiration – I was just telling my DH a few days ago that I need to simplify my stamp camp projects – this is a wonderful encouragement! TFS

  13. You said the magic word for me Mary – QUICK! There are times when I have to have a card and really don’t have time to linger over color choices and stamps, etc. This would be ideal. Thanks for sharing!

  15. I love this card Mary. It’s sweet and crisp and simple enough for even a beginner to make. I like to punch centers for flowers out with paper I have run through the Big Shot with textured plates that makes them look like the corduroy buttons. Thanks for all your inspiration.

  16. Great color combination. I agree the white stands out nicely on the kiwi kiss background.
