I inked the bees in Sahara Sand and stamped them on Very Vanilla. I dotted their sweet cheeks using a blender pen and Pink Pirouette ink, keeping the bees quite basic. TIP: Squeeze the inkpad to create a small pool
of ink on the inside lid, just right for watercoloring or using with a
blender pen.
Using a 1 1/4" Circle Punch, I cropped them out and adhered them with Stampin' Dimensionals to a 1 3/8" Circle of Sahara Sand. A Bravo Burgundy Scallop Circle is a bold backdrop.
I layered each bee on a square of Jackpot Designer Series Paper (available Jan. 19). I snuck it in since it was the right color (So Saffron) and reminded me of honeycomb. The squares are then matted on Bravo Burgundy.
The bottom right "bee happy" square incorporates Go Go Boots Alphabet Die Cuts in Bravo Burgundy (zipped out of my Big Shot) for "bee" and "happy" from Fundamental Phrases. "Happy" is inked in Bravo Burgundy and stamped on Sahara Sand. My Small Oval Punch shapes it up and a Large Oval Punch coordinates beautifully behind (attached with Stampin' Dimensionals).
The Pink Pirouette flower was designed with the help of a Boho Flowers Punch and Bravo Burgundy 1/4" Circle Punch (also on the Retiring Accessories List). The final touch is Pretty in Pink 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon (yes, it's close enough to Pink Pirouette).
TIP: I wanted to share a quick and budget friendly storage tip today from my new Stampin' Pretty Stamping Zone. These 39" rails were $3.99 each from
Those Ikea rails are wonderful but shipping to Alaska is a $32.44 MINIMUM, so no rails for me. boohoo! But I will keep looking for something like this in my area since I LOVE the look. Thanks for your inspiration – I am just putting my new craft room together and you gave me some great ideas. 🙂
Thanks for the idea on the Ikea rails. I went and got some and found that the medium hanging basket for those rails is great to store ribbon! So glad to have a solution for ribbon and punches that is easily accessible and sfordable. Your cards are delightful!
Thank you so much for posting about your punch display/storage. I haven’t been happy with my solutions so far.
What an adorable card! I love those bees. Don’t you love the rails though? I’ve had mine up for about 2 years now and have to add more for new punches.
I love those little bee’s, how adorable 🙂
Cute card Mary! Nice way to store your punches so you can see them all. I love IKEA too & we don’t have one either.
Beautiful card Mary!!
See..you inspire us!
I live about 30 minutes from an Ikea. I love it. We go often. Just to look-mainly. But it still is a free fun family thing! (that is what my kids call it)
Adorable and bee-utiful! Great layering and the colors are perfect! I love your website and I get some great ideas for cards!
Oooohhh…I love those bees…and how you mastered the sketch! FANTASTIC!
Absolutely adorable Mary!
You couldn’t have used this set at a more perfect time..
Mostly because I am finally taking a break from over 12 hours of shop-vac-ing our basement.
Here in the Puget Sound we are nearly floating!
I also purchased this set as a pre-order and it is one of my favs.
Now since I’ve lost shelving and my supplies are boxed up and a mess~ I won’t be able to use it for quite some time.
You’re posts are going to be Extra Special for many of us from this area for the next couple of weeks!
Thanks for sharing So Much So Often.
Hi Jana: I am so sorry for the chaos you are in. Please let me know if there’s anything I can do to help and keep me posted on your progress. I’m watching the news as I type this and am heart broken observing the massive flooding in Western Washington. Big, BIG hug to everyone who is going through this disaster . . . Mary
Bee-autiful! Love those little bees!
I have the same rails for my punches! I only have two and have been nagging my hubs to put the other two up. Now that I have them so easily accessible, it bugs me to have some of my punches piled up! LOL! Your card is lovely, BTW.
hugs,
Brandi
Mary, love the card!
Didn’t you just love that sketch! Was so fun to do!
Hey, I have those same Ikea holders for my punches and sorry, we have a store but the gas alone to get there probably cost as much as your shipping! LOL
aren’t they the best! i have those exact rails holding my punches! but i just decided that it is time for another rail, new punches…yea!! and love the card! the bee is super cute! and i still am coveting your alphabet!
How stinkin’ adorable is this???? I LOVE it! 🙂
What a cute way to showcase each little bee! Great color combo, too. Your punches look great all lined up and ready to go!
If you ever need more rails I live near an Ikea and I would be happy to mail them to you. I love the Bees my Granddaughters school’s mascot is a Bee. How cute is that. My best, Wendy
Hi Wendy: I may take you up on that. What an incredibly sweet gesture. Hugs, Mary
LOVE the tip for the punches!! And Mary, who ISN’T inspired by you???
Hi Heather:
OK, my daughter still isn’t interested in stamping–so that counts as “1” not inspired. Hah! I’m working on her. She says I’m too much of a perfectionist. Not sure where she’s coming from (again, Hah!).
Hugs,
Mary
Could this “bee” any cuter? Very, very sweet just like you Mary! Great use of the Go Go alphabet too.
Super cute, Mary! I love how you did the Bee Happy sentiment! Thanks for playing with the sketch!
