Bella Top Note Chipboard

Stampin up bella blossoms

Today's post is an exercise in 3-D.  TIP:  Did you know that you can order sheets of Stampin' Up!'s On Board Chipboard (Item #114320)?  It includes six 5 3/4" x 13 3/4" sheets (the perfect size to zip through the Big Shot Die Cutting Machine or a Cuttlebug) and works with Originals, Bigz and BigzXL Dies.

TIP:
Here's a cool application with the chipboard sheets.  Choose an Originals, Bigz or BigzXL Die and run it through a Big Shot Die Cutting Machine with chipboard.  Next, run the same die through the Big Shot with Designer Series Paper (Stampin' Up!'s Holiday Mini Autumn Vine Designer Series Paper shown).  Guess what?  You have a perfect match and instant 3-D for your designer paper!

I just received the Bella Blossoms stamp set and it's simply lovely (and oh l? l? on the sentiments).  TIP:  Using a Stamp-a-ma-jig, I aligned the large flower on my top note die cut and stamped in Chocolate Chip ink.  I next stamped three more times, once with Chocolate Chip on Whisper White and twice in Really Rust on Whisper White.  The leaves and petals were snipped and popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals for even more 3-D.

My layout is inspired by this gorgeous card by my blogging buddy, Beate. TIP:  Really Rust textured card stock gives the depth the 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" card base deserves when using so many raised layers.  Another delicious pattern from Stampin' Up!'s Autumn Vine Designer Series Paper and Sage Shadow are matted on top.  TIP:  For a really polished look, fold your score line so that the crease (the raised part) is on the inside of the card and the indentation is on the outside.

THE PERFECT TOUCH:
A couple new details may be grabbing your attention on the sentiment.  I stamped "dear friend" on Sage Shadow card stock (Chocolate Chip ink).  I finally decided to foray into Stampin' Up!'s Classy Brass Templates and used Punches Plus (Item #109539) to create the raised oval around the sentiment.  The same brass template offers piercing options (you really didn't  think I did that oval free hand, did you?).   I cut the oval out with my Paper Snips and mounted it on Stampin' Dimensionals.

The final touch is a charming little clip from Stampin' Up!'s Clip Assortment (Item #112580). These cuties are all the rage on the card crafting "runway."  A snippet of Chocolate Chip Taffeta Ribbon wraps things up.

This card is a special surprise and thank you for my dear, virtual friend, Silke,  . . . . shhhhhh.

  2. Another striking creation! I love your choice of colours and that gorgeous rose. I was wondering how you had embossed the center of that oval… Dry embossing template, of course! Good thing I placed my order yesterday before I saw your card, or I might have added that brass template to my order! 😉

  3. Fabulous card! I love the DP you used. When I first saw that set in the catty I was not impressed I didn’t like the flower and I knew I wouldn’t use it. But I LOVE what you have done with it. Thanks for sharing….it sure makes a different to see how others use the set.

  5. Wow! Your card is fantastic. Love the paper, love all the 3D elements, love the dry embossed sentiment and love that gorgeous flower.
I have to get me some of that chipboard and while I am add it some vinyl as well.

There isn’t really much cased on your card. There is only so much you can do with the Top Note on a regular sized card. It’s so big, you have to slap it in the middle if you want to use it all.
    Thanks for the shoutout though.
    Big cyber hugs

  6. I am so glad that you used the chipboard. I have been sort of confused about what it is and how to use it. This is very instructive. Thanks. Mary

  9. You did it again. What a great idea to use chipboard. Can’t wait until I get my Big Shot. I don’t know how you do it, but you come up with something better everyday. Where does your talent end? Thanks for the idea, I have that stamp set and now I know what to do with it.
