Storage in a Snap

Stampin up memory keeper cards

Is it time to organize your stamping area?  The bare essentials for me are Stampin' Up!'s Color Caddy (Item #104335) for neatly organizing  ink pads and Stampin' Stack & Store (Item #109174), a handy turntable for embellishments (both pictured below). Click here for additional storage ideas!

What's your favorite stamper's organization idea?  Please leave me a comment at the end of this post!

However, the star of the show today is Stampin' Up!'s Forget-Me-Not Keeper (Item #105525, $11.95).  It's a "snappy" little box with 12 dividers to organize and store your cards (or photos).

Do you have too many cards to fit in this 8 5/8" x 6 5/8" x 5" box?  Try a couple boxes or perhaps it's time to send, sell or donate your precious darlings to a good cause.

I used a Stamp-a-ma-jig (Item #101049) and Fundamental Phrases (Item #109513, pictured below–no, the stamp is not upside down–it's double mounted) to make spiffy labels.  The lovely result is below!

  1. Great ideas!

    My favourite organization ideas are:

    – A tool parts drawer unit that houses all my small embellishments (like brads etc). I just bought a second one because the first is full!
    – Using the Bygel rods from Ikea to hold my punches. They really work, and look cool on my wall.

  2. Look at you, being all clever! It was very smart to use that stamp set to do your labels.

  3. I like organizing almost as much as making the cards/scrapbooking! My favorite organization tip is that I buy the clear 12×12 paper holders and put each SU pack in the folder, then I cut out the photo of the paper that is in the SU! catalog and tape it to the front of the envelope. That way, I can easily find the DSP I am looking for and also can keep all the scraps for that pattern together.

  4. I’ve never seen that box before – and now I must own it!
Thanks, Mary. My favorite organizing tool is a stand that my friend’s dad made for me that holds pretty well all of my accessories. LOVE IT!

  5. I must admit, I am OCD when it comes to organization. I love it! I’ve taken the Forget-me-knot box and made holes on the sides using a crop-a-dile. Then I pull the ends of the ribbon throught the holes. This way, I can see the ribbon, but not the mess on the inside.

  6. What a great box – I didn’t even know SU made them. I’ll have to look into them some more. As for my organization tip, I keep all my ribbon organized on the Ribbon Ring system which I love as it keeps my ribbon visible. I have the ribbon hanging from a tension rod inside my closet and it’s sorted in ROYGBIV order.

  7. I love my Making Memories Embellishment Center and desktop caddy. I also love the SU! color caddy and Stack n Store. All of these items store a ton of stuff to keep you organized.

  8. Hi Mary! What a fantastic idea for storing cards – I’ll definatley take that on board. Guess what? I signed up as a Demo on Friday! Thanks again for inspiring me.

  9. Wow! Thanks for sharing such a great way to store all your cards.

  10. Kadie Labadie

Just saw the posting for the spice rack-have to share my great organizing tip – using the OLD turn table type spice racks that spine……Empty those spices out and store your ribbon in each jar-It not only keeps your ribbon tucked away but also looks SO PRETTY on your craft table. The tops of the spice jars have shaker holes so you can thread your ribbon through the holes and they will pull out as you need them. Thanks again for your ideas! Kadie

Hi Mary: LOVE your SU boxes-I just completed making boxes like these using empty Bryer’s Ice Cream Containers. I decorated the outside and lid with SU paper and ran a belly band around the center to join the top and bottom pieces together and they are ADORABLE! I added index divider cards to the inside which allows me to keep different cards within the boxes. YOUR SYSTEM (unlike mine) you can see through-which I love.

So my favorite organizing system had to be that which involves keeping my cards organized. Can’t wait to see what others have to post.

Thanks for sharing your great tip. Kadie

    Hi Mary,

Love your beautiful organizing. I use a drawer spice rack that I found at the Container store for $10. It holds and displays my (12) large SU punches on top of my cabinet or I can stick it into a drawer.

Great idea! Now I need to get busy sorting!

  14. I love the ribbon keepers, too!
