Stampin’ Up! Nature Silhouettes

Stampin up nature silhouettes

Here's the "man" card of all "man" cards.  I created this card this past weekend at a card making event (not my design 🙂 and felt it was an excellent way to share Stampin' Up!'s Nature Silhouettes (111542) stamp set.  It's a bit more "wilderness" than I typically do (my idea of camping is going to a Best Western), but I love the outdoors and felt that this set was particularly tasteful.  For more masculine card samples, Stampin up nature silhouettes close up
The deer silhouette was inked in Chocolate Chip and stamped on Naturals Ivory card stock.  I then stamped the tree scene (also Chocolate Chip) on Mellow Moss and snipped it out with my Paper Snips.  TIP:  Paper Snips (103579)  are the way to go if you need precise cutting.  They get into the tiniest of spots. The "scene" is layered over the deer with Stampin' Dimensionals for a cool 3-D effect.

Below is more Mellow Moss, with the corners clipped by a Ticket Corner Punch.  The moss layer is followed by Old Olive card stock with Organic Grace (Hostess/Stampin' Rewards Level 1) ferns scattered in Always Artichoke.  The Mellow Moss tabs at the top and bottom were shaped by a Tag Punch and stapled. The card base is 4.25 x 5.5 in Always Artichoke.  Stampin' Up!'s Canvas Background is layered on top in Always Artichoke.

  2. My Hubby would love this card! The silhouette look is the WOW! Never would have thought of using this technique… very nice!! Michelle 🙂

  3. Mary, I really like that one. I have that set so that is even better. Great job.

  4. Hi Mary~This is a fabulous card. I am always on the hunt for manly cards. This one is a fantastic add on to my library. I love how you created the 3D effect!
Stop by and check out my new blog. It was just completed this week. This one is my SU! blog…

  5. No bling, no ribbon, no “Foo-foo” colors (see my ds for the precise definition of “foo-foo”)–yup this is a man card. (I agree with all previous comments, especially the popped tree/grass image.)

  6. This is my very favorite set from the new catalog. I just finished doing several cards with it and am pleased with all the results. I too love the way you gave the card dimension by cutting out the “background” tree and grass stamp. I cut out the deer but never thought to cut out the background. You are a CLEVER lady Miss Mary! LOL

  7. Love how you used the tags and the way you gave dimension to your scene by cutting out that tree. Very nice result!

I like that stamp set, it’s on my wish list. I like how different it is.

  8. Hello Mary! This would be a fantastic card for men who like to hunt. I like the way you created a 3D effect with the tree and grass. Adding dimension always makes cards a little more interesting.

    Have a wonderful day!
