The latest Splitcoast Color Challenge (CC188) is a tribute to Breast Cancer Month, and includes Pink Pirouette, Basic Black and Whisper White. TIP: All Splitcoast Daily Challenges are now located on my left side bar.
What an important cause and the perfect colors for the baby card I needed for my nephew and his wife–expecting their first girl after two rambunctious boys. Please check out this post if you missed my personal request for cards for my sister-in-law, Karol, battling breast cancer and soon to be the world's greatest grandma to this baby girl, her first granddaughter.
The Reverse Spotlight Technique gives a textured, multi-colored look to a card. I stamped the butterfly image from Happiness Always (Hostess Level 3) in Basic Black on Whisper White. It was stamped again on Pink Pirouette five times. TIP: Did you know that you can earn hostess rewards (free stamps and merchandise) with a personal on-line order? No need to host a party. Check out the details and the current special offer!
Using a 1 3/8" Circle Punch (although, depending on the size of your object your can certainly vary this size), I punched five areas of the white panel where part of the butterfly would "morph" into pink. Each Pink Pirouette butterfly was snipped out and placed behind the white image and layered on a background of Basic Black. The card base is 5.25 x 5.25 in yummy Pink Pirouette Textured card stock. TIP: Textured card stock adds such a regal touch, especially when combined with other embossing!
The banner consists of a strip of Whisper White that had a quick dance with my Big Shot and the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots Embossing Folder. It's layered on Basic Black. The sentiment is from Full of Life (it's my "go to" set lately), Basic Black ink on Whisper White card stock. I popped it out and embossed it with my Big Shot and Long Rectangle Nestabilities to give it a raised edge . . . very rich.
The sentiment is layered on Pink Pirouette and one of Stampin' Up!'s fabulous new Filigree Designer Brads jazzes up the right corner. TIP: For extra sparkle, tuck a rhinestone brad in the center. TIP: I lined up three pastel pink micro brads using a paper piercer and template (Stampin' Up! Crafter's Tool Kit). A precious Pink Pirouette strip of 5/8" striped Grosgrain Ribbon is the finale.

love it!! i haven’t tried my hand at this technique for so long…i love this card!! great colors!! hope your feeling better!!
hugs!
Now THAT is an amazing card. As a breast cancer survivor, I always wish a little that pink wasn’t the color chosen to remind me of that particular time in my life – not my favorite color…always seems a little ambivalent to me – but this use of PINK is very vivacious. Thank you.
