Frog at the Gate

Stampin up frog gate card

Isn't he handsome (easily transformed to a female if you add a few tiny eyelashes)?  This gate fold card opens to reveal a a Stampin' Up! gift certificate from Stampin' Pretty.  It's a perfect gift for anyone who is passionate about stamping and paper crafts.  I create a special card (you can even choose the colors) for the lucky recipient!  Click here for details!

Stampin up frog gate card open
Open sesame!  For a simple gate card, score a 8.5 x 5.5 piece of card stock (Baja Breeze Textured card stock used here) at 2 1/8" and 6 3/8".  I added panels of Designer Series Paper, Bella Rose (left) and Urban Garden (right).

TIP:  It's perfectly acceptable to mix designer papers from different collections. Think about all the possibilities you open up if you consider this idea.  To compare Stampin' Up!'s Designer Series paper colors in an organized way, check out this tr?s cool  Designer Series Paper Color Chart  created by my darling niece, Kris, at Kween Bee Kreations.  It's listed on my right side bar under "Links I Love" for easy future reference.  That's how I quickly figured out that Bella Rose and Urban Garden shared Kiwi Kiss!

My handsome amphibian was inked with Stazon Jet Black and stamped on watercolor paper.  Using an Aqua Painter, I added Baja Breeze, Kiwi Kiss and Going Gray.  TIP:  I thought Basic Gray might be too dark so I went lighter on the watering can.  I stamped the flower again, colored it in Baja Breeze, snipped it and layered it for texture.

TIP:  The sweet micro brads(Assorted Pastels) throughout the project are from Just Brads.

I shaped and embossed the main image and subsequent mats using Nestabilities Circles and my Big Shot.  My personal tips on using the Big Shot with Nestabilities are listed in Big Shot 101.  A Horizontal Slot Punch creates the "slip through" for the Basic Gray Taffeta Ribbon.  TIP:  The Horizontal Slot Punch does not cut through all three layers.  Do one at a time and keep lining up the layers for accuracy.

The Trio Flowers Punch (now sold individually for $15.95, yippee!) popped out the Basic Gray Flowers, accented with a 1/4" circle of Baja Breeze and more of my micro brad buddies.  The sentiment is from One of a Kind, stamped in Jet Black Stazon on Baja Breeze and given a lovely figure with Nestabilities Ovals (including the Basic Gray Scalloped Oval beneath).

Hugs and Pretties . . . . M
