Stamping With A Retro Twist

Stamping_stems
I love the look of clean, simple cards and have decided to commit to doing more of them.  Today’s card is a good example of quick and clean.  It also demonstrates that it is OK to mix stamp sets and, heaven forbid, mix different stamps from different companies . . . you get a very custom look that way.  I love Stampin’ Up!’s stamps and beautifully coordinated inks, papers and accessories.   Makes my life so much easier.  However, a little diversion is fun and creative.  Lightening hasn’t struck me down for doing it yet . . . but if I don’t post tomorrow . . . .

The Chocolate Chip card base is dotted with a wonderful little round guy from Papertrey’s Beautiful Blooms set.   Instant polka dot magic!  I then stamped Very Vanilla with one of the limbs from Stampin’ Up!’s Stem Silhouettes (retired but a limb from any set will work) in Chocolate Chip.  Another, larger solid circle stamp in River Rock came out to play (Papertrey Butterfly Kisses) and was stamped as a "flower" on each of the 3 stems.  I then layered the little guy I used for the background on top in Old Olive.  Finally, I added the dotted leaf image (2 large and 1 small) in Chocolate Chip (also from Beautiful Blooms).  This stem typically has a more rustic feel . . . but the few extra touches really bring out some retro razzmatazz.

The edges of the Very Vanilla layer were pierced and adhered to an Old Olive mat.  I added Stampin’ Up!’s Old Olive 5/8"  grosgrain ribbon.  The sentiment is simply "delightful" in Old Olive from SU’s "It’s All Good" set.    "Delightful" got a punch with the 1" Circle Punch and is layered on a Very Vanilla 1 1/4" circle.  Both are attached by a few dimensionals to a Scalloped Circle in River Rock.  I added a little Chocolate Chip dot to each scallop because, I felt like it 🙂

Hugs and Pretties . . . .  M
