As much as the anticipation of seeing the new Stampin’ Up! Spring and Summer Collection is killing me, I feel pretty sentimental about some of my old favorites that will never be available again. My 11 year old nephew received a much needed kidney transplant last week, so I though he could use a lively card during his recovery (he’s doing amazingly well . . . just struggling with the volumes of water he needs to drink). I pulled out my little monkey pal from "You’re Neat" (retiring Jan. 2) and thought it would be great fun. I used Brilliance Chocolate ink for the monkey, embossed using clear embossing powder and the heat tool. I’m finding this technique makes coloring with markers much more successful and adds a wonderful gleam. I popped up some circles on the background using my 3/4" circle punch and Stampin’ Dimensionals. My sweet lime Cuttlebug (it’s such a tireless workhorse) and Tiny Mosaic Embossing folder added some rough and ready texture (and not too feminine).
So take one last sentimental journey through the Stampin’ Up! Fall/Winter Catalog to see who is headed for retirement. They’re gone for good as of Jan. 2!
