Handsome. That’s how I describe the color combination (Night of Navy, Wisteria Wonder and Smokey Slate) for this week’s Pals Paper Arts Challenge (PPA194). Are you playing? Check out what the rest of the Pals Pals Arts Resident Artists came up with HERE and play along!STAMPIN’ PRETTY TIPS:
- I used the Stampin’ Up! 1″ Square Punch to crop the Smoky Slate Chevron Pattern from Stampin’ Up! Neutrals Designer Series Paper Stack.
- The patterned squares were adhered to Whisper White Cardstock and cropped using the Big Shot Top Note Die.
- The “Happy Birthday to You” sentiment is from “Best of Birthdays”stamp set. The 12 Stampin’ Up! “Best of” stamp sets are only available through March 31. Learn how you can earn a FREE stamp set when you buy 6 “Best of” stamp sets (value to $14.95).
- The Extra Large Oval Punch was used to crop the sentiment and I used Paper Snips to single out “birthday” on Wisteria Wonder.

Very nice – loving the black ribbon to pull it all together!
Fantastic checkerboard! Not my favorite combo, but I love what you did with it!
Love the checkerboard background!
Handsome, that’s a good word for these colors! I love what you did with them, using them for the checkerboard and then cutting with the Top Note Die. Totally handsome! 🙂

Beautiful checkerboard inspired card Mary and a great masculine card as well. I love it when you make this types of cards, they are always wonderful. Thank you for sharing.
A little tip on adding the squares to the whisper white. Start at the top left corner and then line up the squares by the end corners (point to point) above and below. Its quite easy to build and get straight that way.
Beautiful, Mary! And those squares are all just perfectly placed…such a fun checkerboard pattern that you created.
Mary, I love the paper piecing technique you used n this card. This is a great masculine card!
