Saying Good Bye to My Sweet Caroline

Well, it didn’t get any easier her sophomore year.  My husband and I moved my daughter, Caroline, back into her college dorm yesterday.  It’s only about 1.5 hours away (Barrett Honors College at ASU in Tempe, AZ) but I miss her already.  SNIFF!

I love this photo I snapped of her packed in the back seat as we drove to Tempe.

  1. OMG I made an “I love you card” for my daughter too with the sketch! Like they say great minds think alike 🙂 Love your card with all the fun chevron and dot papers. I love the pearls scattered on the one banner too.

  2. Ah, what a beautiful young woman Caroline has become. They do grow up so fast. My youngest granddaughter is starting her sophmore year in college. Just remember…you are not losing a daughter – you are gaining a WHOLE dorm full of sweeties to make cards and send treats to. I’m sure they all love you:) Your card is delightful!!! hugs, judi

  5. Wonderful card. Beautiful daughter. I can’t wait to switch up the colors to make a similar one for my son who we just took to college as a freshman. He is over 12 hours away from where we live. He is also at ASU at Barrett Honors College. I;m so glad we live in the age of Skype.

  7. What a beautiful picture of your daughter! My day is coming soon as my daughter is a sophomore in high school this year and it saddens me to think of her going away in two years even though I want her to spread her wings. The wonderful thing is they never real leave as they are forever in our hearts! What a beautiful card to give her!

  8. Dear Mary, My heart goes out to you. O know how hard it is to send your daughter off to college. When we took my daughter to college it was eight hours away. in Massachusetts. We live in New York, We all cried so much we had to pull the car off the road we could not see to drive. My daughter is now a over the road coach bus driver so we do not see her very often.

Your card is amazing as so is your beautiful daughter. I love the colors and all the details. Caroline is so lucky to have you and your husband as her parents. Happy Stamping. Thanks for sharing a special part of your life with all of us, Ellen Hinds

  9. Caroline is obviously a smart young woman as I see she uses Mary Kay! (I’m a Mary Kay beauty consultant as well as a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator.) And your card uses Mary Kay colors, too!

  11. Beautiful card that says it all. When we dropped our oldest son off at UK I cried all the way back to Fort Knox. My husband and youngest son threatened to stop the car and kick out if I didn’t stop the crying. What can I say but Mother Love!

  13. Great Card Mary! I’m just betting this shares a bit of Caroline’s personality. Classy, Contemporary, Fun Loving and sharp as a tack. Trimmed off with a little pearly sweetness that always shines through, no matter what. Love the card and the picture of Caroline. What a cutie!

  14. I know the empty nest syndrome is no fun, especially when it’s the last one, but think of proud of her you will be when she finishes. Almost brings tears to my eyes thinking when mine left. Great card Mary and hope your daughter does well.

  17. Absolutely everything is great about this card. The colors, the pearls, the sentiment. I “freakin’ love” it.

Caroline is beautiful. Glad she is only 1.5 hours away; sometimes that was how long as I spent in traffic on the way home from a days work. (So glad I’m retired.)
