Let’s Play Dress Up!

I remember how much I loved paper dolls as a little girl.  I would cut out each outfit, carefully navigating the dress details and little tabs with my safety scissors.  I couldn’t wait to start trying each outfit on my paper doll. Framelits give me that familiar thrill but the cropping process is so quick and simple–promising perfect results every time.

Challenge (PPA153
).  See what the rest of the PPA Resident Artists have created
with the sketch and PLAY ALONG!

STAMPIN’ PRETTY TIPS:

  • It was hard to choose!  Almost every pattern in the Stampin’ Up! Print Poetry Designer Series Paper Stack looked amazing for the dress.  I used a “post-it” to keep the framelit in place before running it through the Big Shot.  The pattern was centered down the middle of the dress.

  • I dusted off my Manhattan Flower Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, which hadn’t seen much action in awhile.  It adds just a touch of floral texture, without competing with the pattern of the dress.

  • DIMENSIONS!  My card base is 5 1/4″ square.  The script designer series paper layer:  1 1/2 x 5″, polka dot: 1 3/4 x 5″ (tucked slightly under the Summer Starfruit layer), Summer Starfruit:  3 3/8 x 5″ and the sentiment:  2 7/8 x 7/8″.

  • MUST HAVE!  Stampin’ Up! stick on pearls add a luxurious polish to both the dress and sentiment.  So easy to use.

  2. When I saw your sneak peek yesterday I thought “Oh wow, this is going to be gorgeous”! And it is. The dress is just so pretty, and the way the pattern runs, it’s just so fresh looking. The flowers and pearl add just the right touch. I am rethinking my decision to not get this set and framelits. You always make me think of things outside the box Mary. Thanks!

  4. I love the card Mary! I too remember paperdolls! My mom and grandmother used to get McCalls magazine (I think this was the one with paperdolls) and I couldn’t wait to cut out the doll and her clothes at the end of the magazine each month!
