Autumn leaves provide a breathtaking splash of pinks, oranges, yellows and greens. How about changing it up a bit with gold embossing? I used the Stampin’ Up! Wonderfall stamp set (versatile all year) and embossed the images in gold–very striking on a black background.
STAMPIN’ PRETTY TIPS:
- This birthday card is for my brother-in-law. I like the simplicity and uncluttered look for a masculine card.
- I prefer to emboss on a larger piece of card stock and then cut the three panels (1 3/16″ X 3 3/16″ each) when I can see the finished images. It allows me the leverage to crop a bit more on one side (before cutting into thirds) to get better balance.
- A single gold brad adds interest without competing with the gold embossing.
- My inspiration for the “gold leaf” card was the card above, created and given to me by Canadian Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator Desir?e Spenst. The stamp set she used is Stampin’ Up! Gently Falling (Wood-Mount 123802, Clear-Mount 123804)

LOVE your 3-Panel card design and your embossing is going to make your brother-in-law look twice at his fabulou b-day card. Great Job and I’m going to dig my embossing powders out today and PLAY!
So great! I think it makes a great masculine card for any season. You just don’t think of stamping on black for any reason. Keep them coming, always love to open your emails.
Okay – this was a jaw dropper for me – stunning! At first glance I thought the background was early espresso, but the black makes it even more dramatic. Pinning it!
Wonderful, wonderful….I am loving the simple cards you are showing this week. Right up my alley.
Nice idea Mary 🙂
AWESOME Card Mary!!! So creative! Thanks so much!
Hi Mary,
Great cards, love the idea. Thanks for sharing.
Mary, I like the three panel design. Great idea. BTW, I am trying to come up with 10 designs for Christmas gift and wine tags. Any inspiration you can float my way would be appreciated beyond your wildest imaginings. We all need to start thinking about tags, right ladies?
Good morning, Mary: This is a gorgeous card, the black card stock and the gold leaves make it look so elegant. This is another great card for a man to give to. There is just enough bling with those gold leaves to make it perfect.
